[META] McDonald's is moving now...

...or at least, it seems so in Spain. I usually go once a week to a McDonalds, and this time I've seen that the paper mantles they use for the trays show a labyrinth, a link to thelostring.com and some catchphrases we already know (are you in? and such). So, is the same happening in the rest of the world, or did McDonald's began advertising the game directly before in another country?

I wonder if this will translate into much more people playing from now on...

Hmm. I got a take-out order from McDonald's here a couple days ago and didn't notice anything like that. Maybe I'll go again and check out the placemats...and take a second look at the bag my dinner came in this week.

I guess McDonalds Germany is too busy promoting the Euro 2008 (2008 UEFA European Football Championship) at the moment ...

Perhaps, if this is true, we should make up a much more generalized 'catch up' or 'what to do' page for people to join in... if they want to attract a huge audience, a long story to read won't be good... the mcdonalds crowd, stereotypically speaking, would likely be lokoing for something quick and fun and easy to understand. How can we present The Lost Ring in such a way? Razz
New mission? "attract McDonalds patrons" ugh Laughing

Just point them to an open field and tell them to play the labyrinth game. Razz
but srsly, if there's an influx of people from McD advertising, I'm certain a vast majority of them won't get past Thelostring.com, let alone read up on Ariadne's blog for instance.

If you go to the McDonald's Spain site:

http://www.mcdonalds.es/?#/home/

and click to the 2nd of the rotating 'screens' there is an ad for The Lost Ring (below), which is a clickthrough to http://www.thelostring.com

nifty.
well that kind of sucks... took a look at McD Canada, and they only mention their involvement with the olympics. nothing ftlr related. boo.

(hey maybe they'll find this referral link about the olympics, and realize they should update their page! =P)

I checked the bag from my Egg McMuffin, this morning.
Nothing of note.
Just the normal, "Help! I'm being held captive in a paper bag making factory."

The Australian McDonalds site appears to have more content than the Spanish site at the moment.

There are desktop wallpapers to download, as well as a 37 second interview with Ariadne's doctor.

Well, as thelostring.com currently has a direct link to the Wiki Timeline - should we have a 'catch up' at the top of that, or perhaps: "If you're new here check out our BEGINNERS GUIDE"?

I know that a few of the NZ Labyrinth Training team have been put off getting involved in the wider game due to the sheer volume of information they feel like they would have to catch up on. I'm happy to work with some others in writing a welcoming message that would help new people know how they can get involved in the game at this point...

i've just had an idea for the wiki, what about a list of people who nobies can contact to get involed.

ie. mr.judkins for NZ
me for Australia.
etc
etc.

that way hopefull well have more people to train with, as i think there are only 2 registered melbourne players so i can't really start training yet Sad Sad

I went to an German McDonald's yesterday and checked. Everything's green and football-y (resp. soccer-y) there, nothing about the Olympic Games or lost rings ...

On the French McDonald's website, they're talking about a "McDo Sports Tour" (aimed at kids) which will be run from May 21th to September 27th.

It will go around the country to help kids discover two olympic sports (Tennis and Fencing) and is supported by the CIO.

Around the same months, there is also a "McDo Kids Iron Tour" with a triathlon circuit for kids.

So it will obviously be related with the lost ring events but i don't know exactly how.
