The hive mind is a wonderful thing. I have only once (possibly twice) stumbled upon something - raced over the UF and been the first one to post about it. It is shocking how quickly things get noticed, picked up and posted. Planting a dormant rabbithole is quite a nice idea and really not that out to left field if you have everything perfectly designed and the game ready to run at the drop of a hat.

As for the coded e-mails. I have to agree from a personal standpoint that I find that a bit boring and I am surprised by the amount of times I have seen it happen. It is fascinating to me the patterns people find themselves stuck in, even within such a new and innovate genre! But humans are creatures of habit Wink

If we use the definition we were talking about in the post on interfaces, technically speaking the use of that device (coded e-mails) would be an ARG (as it uses a real world interface to communicate with players). But if we bring in the concept of TINAG that is where it starts to slip. If the in game characters and world considers itself to be real world, then by all means it should have a real world explanation for everything that makes good, logical sense.
