Doesn't actually look like a bug. If it was a bug, I don't think it woudl center itself so much.

Perhaps it has a meaning?

More than a bug...

Perhaps just a typo in someone's code...before being applied to the centering function?

But even then, what good does that do? A unicorn, etc..? Where would that fit into the story?

The AI needs to send a message to its own people, obviously it came from space/another planet and crash landed here. In the comotas page it goes on and ON about how it MUST send a message.

How would you send a message through SPACE, without a radio???

Star Constellations.

But that brings the question, what does a unicorn mean? If anything, i would assume it's saying this whole thing is a hoax; since unicorns are extinct. And by extinct I mean never existed. (lol...)

Plot a unicorn on this map and you might have something. Otherwise, it's an artifact resulting from me plotting polar coordinates as cartesian, before anyone realised they were GPS coordinates. Smile

Kay, just got back, no reason to take pics all there is is a Bus Depot and high-voltage power lines. It's like an industrial area, recycling, PG&E etc... There are two mailboxes kinda in the middle of nowhere which would be almost exactly at the location though.

Uh, it's not that close a trace, guys.

Consider:

1) The coordinate lines that comprise the legs on the bottom of the unicorn just go through empty space on the star map. That's a whole lot of stars that don't match to any significant detail.

2) It's impossible to jam the most significant points of the coordinate map into the star map. The relative positions of the top and bottom coordinates don't match up at all.

Look at the bottom half on the coordinate map - you have five bright spots making up a W pattern. You have a crudely similar pattern in the star map, yes. Now look at the five or so brightest stars on the top half of the coordinate map. You can *kind of* shoehorn them into the starmap (Procyon, Gem, Plaskett's, etc.), but it's a rough fit.

But here's where it breaks down: Consider how the bright spots on the top and bottom of each map. No matter how you pick your stars on the top row, they don't similarly lime up with the bright spots on the bottom row.

In short, this is like listening to stuff in the backwards WAVs. The one instance where the PMs intentionally embedded a sound ("Connect") is really clear. You can hear other stuff if you really want to, and if you listen long/hard enough, but it's a product of your imagination, not a PM clue.

:edit: Or you can go with the AC's debunk, above. Laughing :/edit:

I don't understand. There's nothing really in correlation(sp?) with any of these sites...so there's nothing there to actually witness.

That's why I keep thinking it's some sort of connect the dots, or symbol or something. But the locations have all turned out to be nothing and any sort of connection so far seems almost too abstract.

Eh, venting frustrationg Cursing

Cell towers transmit the signal between your mobile/cellular phone and any other phone.

interesting that you should bring up hoax Tehrod. Not that this is really means anything but can spell hoax if you anagram axons go hot. I looked through all the possible anagrams and nothing really caught my eye though other than

go host axon and
go hoax tons

these don't make a lot of sense, but there may be something there.

On the contrary, many of them seem to point to a location of interest, like a library or a fountain.

This is furthered by the PM's effort to correct a misplaced dot (originally out in the ocean.) Connect-the-dots puzzles are only interesting in the aggregate: only a few dots define critical points; most are there just to firm up the structure. It wouldn't be worth correcting a misplaced dot, in this case. OTOH, if the dots were individually interesting - as identifiers of locations that contain data - then a single misstep could be very important in solving the puzzle.

We really need to gather data about each point. I'll tackle the four in Cleveland (actually Ravenna, Ohio) probably tomorrow evening, if no one else gets to 'em first.
