XD, "Available at Costco" and Kosm (lol Kosm, like CoSM) do you know if the comic will be published in America? Stupid question, I know, but still.

I think MGP begins to break down at the end because he descends into the ocean too quickly. I remember reading that deep sea life descends at certain speeds so their bodies can become accustomed to the pressure at a certain rate. That way they can adjust to different levels of pressure instead of not being able to exist at a different pressure than normal.

Maybe he was just in a rush and he breaks down because of that.

I just think that there are so many unanswered questions about the monsters biometrics, that we cant really say why he started to go all spongey when he started goin towards his sack. My speculation would have to be that he has the ability to change his biological makeup so that he can be absorbed into the sack, and once inside, he can heal himself, and come back out whenever he wants. I dont think he died at all. he just like, metamorphosed or something like that, into a spongey wierdass thing, and then absorbed into the sack.

I agree with what you said about the monsters biometrics, Nevile even said that a creature of his size is impossible because no matter what size his organs were they wouldnt be able to keep him alive, so Clover has some mutations. But What makes you so sure that was his sac he was hugging onto? And yea i think hes died, probally was being consumed by his brother or sister. Why would he have any reason to heal and come back later, he has what he came for. In Clover's head he thinks mission complete and the military thinks the same... But the true question is why did Clover want to pod???

i dont know man, im not sure of anything at this point when it comes to the MGPods. Im just speculatin' thats all. But i dunno, to think that hes givin a holler to one of his bros or sisters, n then "SHLOOOOP!" he just gets sucked up into the pod--i dunno man. Its all wierd at this point. I need to see the translation for the captions before and after that page. Hopefully that'll shed a little light...

Ps-- Thanks Kosmo, you kick ass. I dunno if i said that yet, so yeah dude, u f*ckin rock!

Maybe TokyoPop will bring it to the states. Someone stated they were checking with a few places for translation rights... but that was so long ago:

Just a note- Babelfish sucks.

Anyway... Heh, thank God I'm taking a Japanese class this semester. XD ... I think there will be four chapters, this being the first, the next coming in February. I'm checking Tokyopop and Viz (two majour manga traslators/publishers) to see if they have the translation rights. Might try Dark Horse ...

Very Happy I was referenced!

And, no word on who has opted for translation. >_> Though, it may depend largely on the Studio that made the movie, as certain studios have ties with certain publishers. :/

Cool news about TokyoPop and Kishin translation.
I wonder if they will remember me with a little footnote. Perhaps they won't...

Anyway, the translation of Part 4 is coordinated by Dennis - it's a cooperative translation. The first 5 pages was my part. The other pages will be translated by somebody in his database. Perhaps - if translators won't react, Dennis will give me another pages to translate. It means, people, soon we get a full translation of part 4 - and this in good English. Wink

I think you did a pretty good job considering you're going from one non-native language to another. It's not like Japanese translates to English easily anyway. As someone who's studied the art of translations, you have to balance the fine line between literal conversion of the words and rephrasing in order to capture the proper intent. That's hard enough when the destination language is your native one, but going to another non-native language is even harder. You did good, and your efforts are appreciated!

(note: I'm not a translator myself, although I could do Spanish to English if needed. I just did some studying of translations of various works in Eastern Philosophy and Western Religion)

yeah, kosmo. no-one knocks your english. my english isn't that great either, but i could never imagine being from russia, living in germany, and translating japanese into english. that's quite a feat. english is only my second language, and it's what, your fourth or fifth? haha.

MANY thanks to kosmo, and dennis, and everyone else on board who are actively feeding us rabid animals Very Happy

Thank you people! It's very cool to hear it, because I'm sometimes very helpless with my English Rolling Eyes
I try to avoid every "lost in translation" thing, but sometimes I don't even know, which language am I thinking in, hehe.

Btw., m_talon, which Eastern Philosophers do you study about?

And people, you know what? I will miss this translation thing for you. It was really cool to help... Well, perhaps the next is that little Japanese book about Cloverfield (which could also be translated soon)...

Paramounts! Do something Japanese, elsewise I'm getting translationless withdrawal syndrome Cool

I just wanted to give a status report to everyone on how the translations are going...

I received about twelve emails from people who volunteered to help out, but only a couple of people have actually come though and done any translating. Sad

So far I have about half of the pages translated (in random chunks). I don't want to post them here out of order (they are confusing enough), so we'll need to wait until someone translates the next section.

Here's the pages we are still missing: 6-19, 28-30, and 41-54

BTW, The last chapter took over two weeks for one person to translate it all (thanks Kosmopol!), so I think we are still way ahead of schedule.
