Trailhead? I'm a "red seal" recipient "True Blood"!! Received something strange in the mail yesterday; shot video and pix to share with my blog/podcast audience. Since posting, my peeps have discovered more recipients of this "red seal" letter.
Could be an ARG or a viral promotion. Intriguing stuff, though. My blog post about it (which has a video, pdf, links to hi-res images and other "red seal" recipients) can be found here:

confirmed, re: sites Thanks for the welcome! Yep, that's all I have so far, re: other links. Looks like the .jp site is the main site so far.
The PDF at my site (and my Flickr pix) have the best capturing of the "red seal" so far; the seal is obstructed by photos on the .jp site.

The writing on the letter from the yesbutnobutyes page looks a lot like Cuneiform but I was unable to determine any letters which represent those markings...

A comment mentioned on the Strange Mail Blog that the writing might be Sumerian. However,I'd hazard a guess that it is Akkadian Cuneiform .
And an awesome Welcome, jchutchins

Leyton, you must know that I always read each of your posts.
There are various types of cuneiform, each quite different, and you didn't mention any specific one. That's why I compared a few and posted my best guess, Leyton.

Meanie... I was unaware of that!
But it's a good job you did because evidently it wasn't any of the Cuneiform texts I was looking at!
Thank ya for the clarification!

Interesting....
Earlier I was checking out strange font for the DL game and spent a lot of time here - great resource -
www.omniglot.com
because it looked familiar. Now, here we go again.
What I found (so far, will keep looking) is that the one JH received looks amazingly similar to this:
http://www.omniglot.com/writing/tagbanwa.htm
or a cross between that and this one:
http://www.omniglot.com/writing/tagalog.htm
one of the others that was received is familiar to this one:
http://www.omniglot.com/writing/phoenician.htm
and the cuniform looks like it's taken from the above one mentioned as well as the persian style - letter glyphs from both appear
http://www.omniglot.com/writing/opcuneiform.htm
Unfortunately, the site seems to be bogging down on me and pages aren't loading...maybe a bunch of others on there looking.
I have no idea what any of it says, but I saw these and remembered seeing very similar ones on the site from earlier, thought I'd pass it along.

red letters? You guys are awesome with the ancient language mojo.
I've been thinking that the large black letters are the "punchline," but the red characters seen in the red seal are the setup. I think we might find a translation key for the ancient languages if we concentrate on the red characters in the seal.
I took some close-up pics of the seal, and posted them in a PDF: http://media.libsyn.com/media/jchutchins/rabbit_hole.pdf
Page 4 has the best shot, I think. I've zoomed in and seen that the red characters appear to be English letters, in some kind of stylized mashup. Something to it?

Wild hair shot in the dark time...
On a whim, I yahooed KTBK and turns out it's some radio or tv station in Japan. I don't have Japanese fonts installed on this machine so all I get are squares but hey, never know...maybe you got hit up by a radio/tv station promo?
www.ktbk.co.jp
Closer to home there is also
http://www.ktbk.com/
and others, mostly Japanese though...
but for the record, the way I interpreted the seal symbol was just tb - that those aren't Ks one way or the other, just decorative type.
Question for JC - have you had any association with the Japanese on anything you've done? Maybe there's a link that direction?
