Cloverfield Ignored in the Golden Trailer Awards?
A rant we all understand....

This is a rant by me but i think we "Cloverfield Fans" understand.

As i saw the nominees of the each category, Cloverfield was nominated twice :

One for "Best Thriller Trailer" and one for "Most Original". Both for the teaser trailer.

But it didn't win. It lost to "Vantage Point" and "In the Bruges".

Also it wasn't even nominated for "Best Teaser Poster".

So as i say this, was Cloverfield ignored in the GT awards. Confused

Especially with the "Most Original" as it was NEVER DONE BEFORE. (With all respect with the other films, but are you kidding me?)

So here's the question: Was "Cloverfield" robbed in the "Most Orginal" trailer of the year in the GT Awards?

Your point? When was the last time the awards critics were right? No Country For Old Men Sucked.

i liked it, but that just shows that even between the two of us random ppl, opinions can differ greatly. So why should a couple of other guys get paid to tell us what movies they thought were good or bad?

exactly. in two explicit words: FUCK IT.

i've had so many people tell me that cloverfield sucked. most people just don't get it. they saw the movie. they formed opinions.

we're the rare breed that has followed this shit for nearly a year.

but yes, i agree that cloverfield got robbed. it had the single most intriguing trailer i've seen. pretty much ever.

While I don't watch or pay attention to any award shows, I wonder if Cloverfield will win any? It wouldn't really change anything, but it would just be nice to win one of the big ones even if it's just for ROAR.

The "Vantage Point" trailer gave away all the surprise twists and turns, and "In Bruges"... well... DANG IT! The "Cloverfield" teaser was one of the most thrilling and curiosity-sprouting things I've ever seen in a cinema. Wow. What a rob (no pun intended) it experienced.

It would seem that the people doing the trailer awards probably resent Cloverfield for it's trailer not being essentially a mini-movie of sorts (which far too many are anymore), and for having been thought of by someone obviously commercially savvy and not just artistically creative. I can't think of another trailer that so effectively 'teased' the audience as the teaser did. Who would have believed before this that a teaser with no title and no reference to go by could get people to actually hunt down the film's info - for 6 months!

Sometimes, the 'elite' are loathe to accept that an 'outsider' did a better job than they have. Oh well.

From what I've seen Cloverfield opinions are Black and White, Some Love it and think it's Underrated, the other half think it's lame and overrated, I still lean toward the latter, but I did enjoy the ARE regardless
