I wasn't really ragging on metal-core, but, well, maybe I was. I used to listen to a lot of NYHC shit. I love that slow Chug Chug guitar stuff (like old Biohazard and Madball). All of a sudden it started going away, and everything started heading in the direction of metal. I guess the main reason I dislike it, is because it started to dominate the hardcore scene. I have never realy been a fan of large guitar solos.
The only band that was allowed to wear make-up was the Misfits (and I guess Kiss).

Well I like my large solos. hahah.
But hardcore needs it's place too. As someone on the opposite side as you, I'm also pissed that metal and hardcore have joined and spawned a billion stupid little bands who think all you need is breakdowns and lame screaming. That trend will fade... once I personally assassinate Throwdown. haha.

Throwdown is one of the only newer branded Hardcore bands I like. They are a west coast band with an east coast sound. I personally don't like hardcore and metal mixing either.
I don't know if these guys are metal-core, but I saw the band Fall of Troy a few years back (the opened for Poison the Well). Fall of Troy is one of the best bands I have ever seen live.

Sorry for the DP (double post, not double penetration) but I must say that metalcore, and the metalcore scene is way better than the Rave scene. Those weird ass candy ravers with their pacifiers and Rainbow Bright back packs.

I think Fall Of Troy is Post-Hardcore if we're getting into anal categorization. haha. But ya, they've got some great stuff. A lot to take in at once so I'm not completely versed in their shit. Their song on Guitar Hero kills me every time I play. But I like em. Never seen em live though.

I personally don't like Throwdown because they are the shakey wooden bridge between hardcore and metal. Especially on their newest album as they think they're Pantera. Disgraceful. I've got no problem with growth in a band but I heard a couple songs off that new one, and holy shit! Try out Holy Roller and try to tell me it's not a blatant Pantera rip-off. Those guys don't know what they're doing.

I haven't heard anything by them in a while. I saw them at the sounds of the underground show. I think it was the first year it started. I only went because Gwar and Madball were playing.

Ya, i saw them at Sounds of the Underground too. Nothing special. Very stadard hardcore-metal crossbreed. If I want to listen to that (rarely) I'll pull out some Hatebreed (who I'm actually getting quite sick of). The only highlight of their set was a cover of Roots by Sepultura.

That Gwar show was amazing though huh? Got covered in fake... whatever they were spraying from those cannons. haha. Amazing stage show. Too bad they haven't been back this way since.

That's an oddly confident statement. You sure about that? haha.
I bet Buckethead shreds circles around him.

Ya, it's just too bad I can usually only get halfway through one of his cd's at a time. So much technical shit at once. haha. His acoustic cd was great. I recommend it to all the emo lurkers who don't wanna get in the middle of a metal vs hardcore debate. haha.

Buckethead's really tricky shit to get into. Some albums have enough melody to get through, others seem like they're just guitar tricks front to back. And it doesn't help that he has about 20 albums give or take. haha.

If you were gonna check out anything I'd suggest Enter the Chicken. It's full of guest singers like Serj from SOAD (great song), and a bunch of other people. Some really cool, very weird songs.
