I guess, but the Assy McGee inside me hates cloverfield and thought it was pretty lame and overrated, the ARE is the only thing keeping me interested.

Yes, but leaving things unanswered in a movie is okay, because we get viral. But leave viral unanswered seems a bit stupid to me. So i wished they just continued for the fans.

See, that's getting the whole viral vs movie thing mixed up. You're putting the cart before the horse. The viral came first and is actually more 'answers' to many things we wouldn't otherwise have a clue about in the film. Believe me, people who followed the viral got a LOT more out of the film than those who did not. But again, because the viral came first, it's not to 'follow up' on the film's 'unanswered things'. What wasn't explained in the viral leading up to the movie and it's release in theaters and later on DVD isn't likely to get explained - until there's a sequel. Even then that's no guarantee. Leaving the viral campaign with loose ends - just like the film still manages to have - is prime bait for more later. If they are dead set on making a sequel, you can pretty well bet the viral will be stuck or stumbling with loose ends until the ramp up to a sequel begins.

I have to say the point made by suckaH is spot on: a week with nothing is not a sign that it's suddenly 'over'. I think there was in fact a whole month where there were no truly 'in universe' updates. Most often those gaps had a few trickles of other info like interviews of actors or the production team.

I know what you mean, but leave the viral open like this is not very.. decent. At least give us a good cliffhanger, i mean, i would wait for new viral for a very long time with a good cliffhanger.
Yes, this "new lead" Alyse got could make a good cliffhanger, but at least let us know it is one. Yes i am a bit whiney, but im just affraid they quit making viral. Sad

theres no way in hell the viral is over man. The USGX website would qualify as a good cliffhanger to keep us salivating waiting for more info i think. I really dont think that we'll be waiting for a super long time for more updates in the ARE. I mean, if they were gonna just throw us a tiny ass bone and then leave things stagnant for another 3 months, it just wouldn't make sense. If it wasn't going to pick back up, then they wouldnt have put up the missing teddy blog, and they wouldn't have put up the USGX site. they would have leaked some type of related clue so that we would know about the hidden supplementals in the DVD, and that would be that, until the new shit in the ARE for the sequel starts up. But i think that they are gonna keep playing this game with us untill all the questions are satisfied. It's just a gut feeling that i have, but i have been wrong, many times before. Also, i still think that were waiting for some type of new clue as to how we can unlock all of those supplementals on the DVD that we cant access yet. There is probably a treasure troll of information that can answer stuff for us on the dvd still, and the ARE masters are waiting for something to happen before they leak a code to us, or whatever it takes to unlock those other files. If they didnt unlock, they wouldnt be on the dvd. Did anyone notice that how every time you try to play the locked supplementals on the dvd, it would begin to play, and then it would pause, and stop playing?? those files work, but something is stopping them from playing. So there is a ton of info on our dvds that we cant access yet. Lets just hang out for a bit longer, i garuntee that something big is still gonna come, and its gonna freak us all the hell out Smile

Currently they have no real reason to wrap things up, do they? Their marketing's done, and they barely begun to even think about a sequel. What exactly would be the purpose of continuing this?

The Lost Experience continued because the show was still airing. The Cloverfield movie has come and gone.

They have no business incentive to continue to spend the resources to keep this going. It's not financially viable. And you're talking the world of movie studio marketing here; they aren't forced to wrap anything up because the fans believe the studio has loyalty to them.

think about it man. If they werent going to keep it going, then why the hell would they have even picked anything back up at all? they keep dropping us little treats as the time passes. If it was dead or dying, why the hell would they keep us wanting to be involved? i seriously doubt that JJ n co. are vindictive people. Them leaving us breadcrumbs to follow is NOT their idea of some maniachle game to give us cinematic blue balls. Everything is leading up to something. You just gotta use your common sense on this one and have faith that the creators of this film are not going to let their loyal fans down.

Why? Well, i thought that was pretty obvious. Look at when they dropped these "treats." To promote the movie in japan (manga) and to promote the dvd release (usgx and teddy poster). If they hadn't released anything, it would be very anti-climatic. But now they have absolutely no reason to release anything more; it's just throwing money into the wind.
That being said, i don't think we should say it's dead yet. It's only been a short time. Maybe they'll release stuff to coincide with the clover toy, or pick up again when a sequel is in the making.
