A specifically "Story So Far" Podcast Series? Eli Hunt style, with pictures and all... We've been considering this idea the past few days - to try and alleviate the daunting task of having to read it all for new players.
It would be very easy to write a script up based on the wiki timeline summaries, and drop all the images into Final Cut to produce something akin to the Eli Hunt Podcasts. Perhaps do it in 5 minute chapter blocks, or similar...
Is this a worthwhile venture? Does anyone have thoughts about what should definitely be included/excluded?
EDIT: And there could be a resource of the script and images used for it to be recorded in other languages too...

I think it's a good idea I have been trying to encourage people to join in, but they tend to get confused. And now if I suggest they start at http://www.findthelostring.com, they soon meet Ariadne being utterly discouraging. . .

I think it is worthwhile, yes, if there is someone/a team who definitely can keep up with new events. I do not want to lay guilt/blame at all but would like to point out that there was one podcast and the person who did it hasn't had time to put out a second...real life has a way of interfering with these things sometimes. Still, if there is someone willing and able to keep going with it...yay .

I could be wrong, but I understood that cineball's concept was for a semi-regular "update on the latest news" podcast...
What I'm proposing here is more an "audio book" of the Timeline Summaries - simply so that people don't have to read it. And I'm happy to give it a shot here, if not this weekend, then next.

I'll help with this, but I won't be in charge of it.

If anyone is interested, I wanted to do this, so I've already set up all the framework for doing a podcast. I wrote one entry to the blog and have been working on trying to make a first episode of the podcast, but I think a group effort (with a script) would be awesome.
If we want to go ahead and use my framework, then here is the info:
http://looktodelphi.blogspot.com
http://agonothetai696.mypodcast.com/
If you are interested in being a co-writer of the blog, email agonothetai696[splat]yahoo[dot]com your email and I'll invite you to join the blog as an author. Only Google accounts will be able to write in the blog, so send your Gmail if you have one and make one if you don't (I can send the invites to non-Google-rs, but it will prompt you to make a Google account to be able to author the blog).
Mypodcast offers unlimited files, file size, and bandwidth, with the kicker that you have to insert one ad for every 20 minute period in your podcast (so >20 minutes, 1 ad; 21 minutes, 2 ads, etc.).
Eli Hunt style picture podcasts can only be made on Macs. Anyone have a one?

Anyone still interested in this idea?
Dav Flamerock and I have started blog posts on my blog Look to Delphi but nothing so far in the way of podcasts. If you want to post on that blog just email me (listed above) and I'll add you to the blog.

The idea sounds great, and I heartily agree that some sort of "story so far" is really necessary because the sheer amount of information and the complexity of the whole thing might easily discourage any potential newcomers. Haven't got the time for such a thing myself, however, not to mention the lack of necessary technical equipment ...

That's a great idea Mauroking. I also speak Spanish (a little, I'm still learning) so we could totally make a Spanish podcast as well!

I've organised a proper microphone for the weekend, so I'll have a go at recording a "first draft" of sorts today...

Double post.
Just having a play so far - getting the mic and software sorted. I've recorded a little test-intro to the first part of the Story So Far... here's a taste of where I'm trying to go with this:
