Max, welcome back! The other threads are basically just pregame rant and specualtion...

The actual game I don't think will start just yet.. according to the previos blog posts made available to us from the PM..

I would actually just check out the wiki and not bother with the other stuff as of yet.

Got it too....

Maybe it's PMese for settle down, in due time you'll have stuff to do.

Can we say Pastry Wars?

Still things 'out there' like Abrams' easter eggs...

It's ready, we're running off on it half cocked (with no direction, see above), and the logins to both sites don't have passwords yet!

So settle down and just give me a minute to get this thing polished up and ready, gees...

Meanwhile find something else to do, like work on this cryptic comment about weeping hearts and burning fires...til I get ready to open up.

On a more serious note, it's definitely a read between the lines email. I don't know where some of you are getting any religious connotations out of this unless that's habitual or something but if this is connected (and pretty clear it is) to DarkLight, then do you seriously think it's gonna jump track from a more scifi style and theme to some religious kinda deal? It wouldn't do that...it would keep aligned with the original theme it launched with and nothing about that whatsoever has anything to do with religion (not even masons). I will grant you that the first line is almost always the bullshit ignorant premise all holy/religious wars are based on, but that same conflict can apply to a whole lot of things...the difference is in other contexts most people can work to overcome, when religion gets snagged up on it, it ends in the worst of the basest human nature.

But we had a whole other context for the sites, for Umbrati and Lightbringers and this just doesn't have any solid evidence pointing to it as relevant to anything religious.

Thank God (no pun intended Wink ) someone is finally getting the point

Lunsford -

But then again....maybe this *is* when it begins! Mr. Green

Coffeebean should PM the mods and get them to open up the Lightbringers thread, whether they move it or not...it's CLEAR there are two sides to this game and each one is having its own "stuff"...so we can have our own 'camps' so to speak. The majority of people on here I think would prefer each side have its own thread.

Lightbringers was a legitimate find, as was Umbrati...maybe someone the mods actually like can get through to them, cause they tend to not give a shit what I suggest Laughing

I feel that when it does begin, we will know..

Not just have a random e-mail starting it off.. That is not the PM's style anyways

Edit: he is very much the type of person that will bring something more creative than that Wink

I'm inclined to ignore the email. We were duped into thinking the game wouldn't begin for another month. What's to say that there isn't already a way to advance to the next part of the story? For all we know, the email could be another form of misdirection.

Meanwhile...

I googled* the sender's name just to see if anything came up on that, and up top was some art site, but had this line in the text. The name/word/phrase wasn't familiar to me, just seeing if anything came up for it as far as potentially relevant to a direction for DL or to confirm it's unrelated.

Quote:
Architectonic elements, fruits and objects conform a particular grammaticality based on chiaro oscuros whose diversity of contrasting planes make us think of a very personal interpretation of the Cuban baroque that had so much influence in cathedrals, palaces and mansions in Cuba and Latin America during the colonial period.

So as was pointed out earlier, I can see the hint of the theme of contrast here...what if we're all wrong and it's an art based theme between

light and shadow

literally! Laughing

Omega, I don't think that he would want to give us that misdirection necessarily.. If he has went to all the trouble of making a game, wouldn't he want us to play it ?? I think the e-mail is what Karensa interpretted as well.... we all just need to chill Cool and wait for things to get poppin...

There just isn't enough hours in the day, but things move along nonetheless.

I've been considering doing a gratitude mailing to certain people, those of you that have made the pre-game show what it is, simply because I can't do anything else. I love what Aporia Agathon is doing with "Our Lost Puppy", but no way I can do that due to time constraints (and, for that matter, I can't seem to mentally formulate a pastry-based ARG; mayhaps others 'round here have ideas for that?).

What I'm afraid of is that, whatever I send out, might be construed as the start of the game. Which it won't be

That is from the blog the PM wrote himself before any of us received any mail!!!!

Quote:
In the meantime, everyone's asking "when?" I'm shooting for early June, and if all goes well it should have a three or four week run, or more if I can hold it out long enough. There are still some rather big gaping holes to be filled in, and I simply haven't had the mindset to deal with it. Game's just not ready yet, and like I've said many times before I have no intention of half-assing this one.

That is also from the same blog......Now does anyone think I am just saying this without merit?

Wow...can't crack a password at all, but to think I'd be able to nail PMese off the cuff? Heh.

IF - IF - that actually was the purpose of the email we all received was a measure of getting the point across to be patient for a bit longer and quit trying to hack the logins (I hope we didn't break it!) then the last line of the message gets my attention in another context...if the whole email is instructional of sorts, might this be also?

Until then, seek the heart that weeps and the fire that burns

so should we be looking for whatever represents a weeping heart and a burning fire?

I can see burning fire representing passion and motivation, but weeping heart? Could it be one among us who has received (and hasn't connected a dot yet) or may still receive the clue relevant to that? Or maybe he wants us to find the whiney one and the pissed off one among us for the clue?

Probably nothing, but it struck me that maybe it could suggest a seeking of someone or something that is best represented by the weeping heart and burning fire? Which is what we should be doing 'meanwhile'?

Any ideas?

EDIT FOR PS: Do we have an official name for this game yet? Not sure how that works itself out, do the players crown it or is it something provided by the PM via the game itself? If we have one, what is it? I don't know how to refer to it just yet...been sort of calling it DarkLight but don't know. Thanks!

I think, the heart and the fire are two different things, just my perspective though. ((unless of course it's kingdom hearts Laughing *hash been playing too much KH2*))

and also not sure if the game has started yet or not, I've been away from ARGs for a bit. Never really been involved in a huge one. I just have that kinda luck.

Just noticed I got a reply to my email asking for more info about the Lightbringers:

Once again, thank you for your interest.

I get what you are saying about religion. I am not a big fan of religion myself, but that is just my opinion. I will attach an image from a link that Agent Lex posted a few pages back because it is almost exactly what the lost line describes. A weeping heart and a fire. it may not be what the PM means, but it is still worth noting.

on a side note. the thousand years dark vs light thing sounds a bit like Constantine, but there we go with the religion thing again...

Ok now that's just mean.

Our PM is a sadist.

EDIT @ jabba - we were submitting at the same time ;-p

Just to clarify - I was only pointing out that it doesn't seem likely that the theme would switch gears from sci fi to a holy war - and there would be more relevant themes for clues which have double meaning. That's not to say that there won't be any clues with some sort of religious symbolism involved in and of themselves to get a point across. Just wanted to clarify that so I'm not misunderstood as protesting someone's religion on principle!

Because I'm not a religious sort, the religious symbology doesn't pop first into mind unless it's just stereotype stuff like devils and angels...soon as SPI noted the moon, first thing I got was dark side of it and then Pink Floyd so I was useless from then on! Laughing

Cry Havoc "The term also appears...in Coriolanus - "Do not cry havoc, where you should but hunt with modest warrant."
