 		OK, guess I lied. Here's what the hint leads to (attached). Use this then like a combination lock (left to first symbol, right to second, etc.)

 		The symbols should be read left to right, not top/left to bottom/right, so start with the symbol 4rth down on the first column.

 		Going from left to right in the image I posted, turn the crank until you get to the first red symbol, turn the other way to the next, and on until you light all 6.

 		Yes, deviants. Going down each column, you have pairs of tiles. Played 'which one of these is not like the others' to see which didn't fit the pattern in each column.

GAW that makes sense now. every puzzle the answer is staring us in the face if we would just stop over thinking it. ok onto number 4 and now i am really lost. I might not be cut out for this game after all
