Wiki Update 5/23/08

I've split out the shards for which we don't have coordinates into their own area on the wiki, because I keep having to go through the whole list just to remember which ones we are waiting for so that I can see if the page is up yet.

I've also added links to the coordinate/satellite image pages so that you can go directly from the wiki to those pages. Since some of them aren't linked up properly in the file drawer on the main website, I figure that this will be an easier way to get to them rather than having to change the shard number in the URL, and it also helps new people to know that yes, we DO have coordinates for some of the things in the filing cabinet, even though they aren't linked.

If I add anything else today, I'll edit this post to reflect the new changes.

EDIT: Oh, yeah, and I added a link for Shard 13 to wikipedia for Argard (listed as Asgard on wikipedia)

have we decided what exactly the 'clues' on the other sides of the postage labels are?

they feel like cryptic crossword clues to me for example 'regina most low' from Shard 6 & that the answer could be an anagram of 'ereshkigal'

I'm still not sure about the information on the other side either as the number of letters varies from shard to shard.

I was thinking that the number of letters tells us which description really goes with that number. So the description for Summerland has 20 letters, so maybe number 6, which was labeled with "20 letters" might match that one. Of course we already have another one that has that many letters, so we can't be sure at the moment, because we've got to have them all to know.

Has any progress been made on getting the others? It's kinda frustrating to sit around waiting to see if maybe somebody goes and gets these things...

X3. An ARGing friend suggested to me that we put out a general call for help in one of the META forum sections. Or maybe on the chat channel? I mean, there's gotta be somebody on uF in LA who'd be willing to do a pickup, fafuxake.

That's a fabulous idea. My friend in California hasn't managed to get the box near San Diego yet.

Oh, dear. Yes, I mean San Jose.

We'll just chalk up that little glitch to sleep deprivation as the result of being a temporary mother to an almost-six-year-old, 'K?

Yes, we do! One thing to know is that you need to bring a cassette player with you, because there is a tape in the box and we need a verbatim account of what is on the tape. If you've got a digital camera, that would come in handy as well, so that you can get photos of the underside of the tin lid (which has at least one plastic tape thing with some letters punched in them and some spaces in between), and both sides of the paper tag. If you don't have a camera, just make sure to write down exactly what are on those pieces.

Here's the link for that particular cache. I'm spoilering it, because some players may not have gotten to the info yet and I don't want to ruin it for them. The page contains a zoomable Google map so that you can see the area, too.

http://www.theskyremains.com/shards/shard8.html

As you can see, the shard you would be going for is number eight.

If you want to see the kind of thing that we've already found, you can look at the wiki, which is at http://theskyremains.wikidot.com/. Look under "Puzzles" at the top, and pull down "Geocache Puzzles" from there. At the bottom of the page, you'll see tabs for the caches that have been found, with links to video (if any), audio file or audio transcript, and pictures. You can also look under the "Pending" numbers for the shard you would be looking for and you can see what we've been told about it.

It would be lovely if you can find this for us.
