I rang them up (858.812.2838), got through to the (very nice) receptionist, asked for Erik Andersen. She said they didn't have a number for him, and was directed to either a) email him or b) leave a message.

fwiw, my ploy: I would have said that i'm a contractor at the server, doing some updates to the database, need for him to log in, before to ask him security questions, first and last letters of password, then he logs in, everything is fine, and I end call with these nuggets.

Someone want trying a more urgent, "omg its an emergency" line? (my Brit accent doesn't help)

How did you try to get in?

Others may have more useful suggestions, but I often use:

I tried to connect to the open irc port on Nates server, I have not tried to connect to the unfiction chat.

Yeah. I'm not totally sure, though. It's an IP from a hosting company (possibly dedicated, where it might be a bit more OK) so we might get in trouble depending on how the PMs and hosting co. take things.

EDIT: Instead of telnetting, try sshing. It has SSH open.

Wouldn't you still need the password to get into the site in the first place?

I tried a few things out of his bio on the Freyja Capital page, but still no luck.

Freyja
FreyjaCapital
Oxford
INSEAD

As well as some other random words - again, no luck.

I'm hoping another clue will come to light soon!

I've been kinda lurking on this game and found this interesting. Probably doesn't help with finding the password but I figured I'd post it here just in case.

According to domaintools this ip address is associated with mastercard. http://whois.domaintools.com/mastercardwinahome.com

You can bring up the login box by going to www.mastercardwinahome.com which is just weird...

If nothing else, it might tell us what show/company this game is connected with(something with a partnership with mastercard?).

Sorry if this has been posted and I missed it.
