[Update] Nate's Blog - When I can, I do May 28

Quote:

When I can, I do

Sorry, I know you worry you guys when I don't post. I didn't think I could surpass the level of stress I've been having, but I can safely say I was wrong.

Being a double agent is about to drive me into the madhouse. Can you see me in one of those white padded rooms, sporting a straightjacket and all? I sure hope they have pudding.

Erik's a tyrant. George is freaking me out. Something's going on with the conference room. Hell will freeze over before anyone tells me anything around here. People growl more than talk at this point.

Stuck, lost, AND I have a meeting. Double plus suck.

Then there's the spy cameras I have to deal with everyday. Can't even like....it's weird. But anyways I have a meeting pretty soon with...Eliza."

I've been kinda lurking on this game and found this interesting. Probably doesn't help with finding the password but I figured I'd post it here just in case.

According to domaintools this ip address is associated with mastercard. http://whois.domaintools.com/mastercardwinahome.com

You can bring up the login box by going to www.mastercardwinahome.com which is just weird...

If nothing else, it might tell us what show/company this game is connected with(something with a partnership with mastercard?).

Sorry if this has been posted and I missed it.

I don't think it's been posted yet. But, looking at the WHOIS information for www.mastercardwinahome.com, it seems that it was registered in 2006. My guess is that the IP address we're using was once used for the MasterCard promotion, which has since finished. I think it's just random reuse of resources on the web hoster's part.

I've received a reponse from Nate regarding "Hafnia is the key"

Quote:
Hey Kevin,

Thanks. "Hafnia" maybe the key, but RK hasn't been to clear as to what door. There seems to be more doors than keys lately. I don't know anything more about hafnium dioxide than I just read in Wikipedia. The Copenhagen connection seems logical, but I don't know what to do with it. Yet.

Nate

I also noticed the blog post uses a play on words for the password "Copenslaving," which may subtly indicate a direction to take our current login attempts.

Anyone else notice that there seems to be faint numbers in background of the schedule page? I tried to enhance as best I could to see the numbers... but I can't the attachment to upload right now. Keeps loading forever.

The numbers look like either 49 or 43 to me. Thoughts?

I'm not seeing it - all I have is a very faint checkerboard pattern that probably comes from the paper itself when it's made. Hope you can get that attachment up!

I tried - have a look a few posts before. Short answer = no result. Long answer, you could try screaming for help at the receptionist. Make sure you record this for us.

Brute forcing does seem lazy, and getting a solve from using it seems cheating, however Nate's words certainly do suggest that brute forcing it is the way to go!.... (before I would do it, however, I'd like to be sure I've exhausted all other avenues first)

Can we ask Nate for more information on Erik? Most people will use a password that is personal to them, in some form. Maybe if we get more information on him it could lead us to more reasonable passwords.

[brainstorming]
Also I know that there has been rumors of Eliza and Erik. Do we know who the pursuer is? if Erik has a thing for Eliza then it is possible her name would be involved

Is it possible RK would have any information about the login?
he/she seems to have more information than Nate or us.
[/brainstorming]

I agree with chippy brute force should be our last option.(although I am compiling a relevant dictionary just in case)

More brainstorming from me.

I've been obsessively googling things to do with Copenhagen and keys and suchlike. Tried to bring Freyja back in to the frame and discovered that Cowslips (Primula veris (or officinalis)) are sacred to the goddess freya, and are supposed to represent keys to her hall. Other names include: Freya's Key, Herb Peter (for the alleged resemblance of the flowers to keys), Key Flower, Key of Heaven, Lady's Key, Our Lady's Keys and, excitingly, Password.

Gets me nowhere. Thought I would share.

Nathan's response to Kona's comment

Kona left this comment for Nate last night and below is his response to it. I think (I may be wrong) he is telling us to do what ever it takes to get into http://69.60.10.106/

Wow, honey you look beat. You need to get some sleep.
Let us pick up some of this 'hack' stuff. Just let us know if you see or hear anything that might be useful. We'll do all the site visiting and password hacking for you (don't want any cameras seeing you). Ghod, I hope they don't have computer monitoring also (what is that called, keystroke nanny?).
Wish you could bring a secret camera into that meeting. But don't risk it.
Hugs!
- kona

I am getting fairly suspicious of my own shadow at this point. This place is full of beasts, ogres, and scoundrels. Time to act accordingly.

Using brutus I've been trying to crack it. With username eandersen, and all the possible passwords w/ 1-10 characters using a-z, 0-9.... only 2137 millenia left!! Mad

Nate's response to Dante's comment

Dante wrote:

How long has Jay been working there? Maybe it's time to take him into your confidence? You shouldn't be doing this alone…

codewtrn8 wrote:

@Dante
I don't know if I can trust him yet. But I did ask him about Erik hoping to get some insight and he says Erik's been pretty arrogant from the beginning. I'm guessing weak leadership, weak password.
