SPEC: Lake of Tears According to the March EOTW newsletter, the Lake was the place where a"deformed child" would be brought, weighed down with stones and thrown "back to the devil."
Would a child with six fingers be considered deformed?

Devils Perhaps this Devil Hunt refers to the Jersey devil, the 13th Leeds child who was born deformed, or so the legends say.

Question re: b/w photo I have two copies of the b/w photo of the lake, because they are different. The first one I saved when the site was first found, but when I went back to look at it again there was a 2nd ghost. Is this old news? If so I'm sorry.

Yes, this is new! I looked at that picture a day or two ago, so this was updated just recently. You know, looking at that ghost that has appeared behind the lady... it almost looks as if there is a small child riding on an adult's shoulders. You cannot see the torso of the child, it just fades off, but I see legs coming down in front of the adult's body.
Perhaps it is the cold medicine talking, but maybe this is Meaghan and Diana? Or some clue anyway?

Maggie, your cold medicine is wacky. The site has not been updated since Mar 6. I opened the original picture I had copied, and compared it side by side with the current picture, and could not see any difference. Sorry.

Lake of Tears Photos I have the two photos. If you want to check them out I could upload them somewhere. I'm just not sure where to send them.

For what it's worth, these pics are definitely different.
Load them into two browsers and toggle back and forth. If you do that, it's easy to see. There is a shadowy figure on the right side of the bridge in one of the pictures. Plus, note the different file sizes.

Ha! Kona, no fair kicking a woman when she is sick and high on Nyquil!
There is a definite different between those picts, although it was the figure behind the ghost of the Lady that I had never noticed before. Strange that we never noticed the person in back before!

Ah, wasn't kicking you. I seems I must have dl the picture in March, and not the initial picture that was on the page on opening night (Feb).
So give me a trout point.

it seems there is no cause for the bigger size other than the different software used to produce it and possibly lower level of compression. meta-data differences:
the old image has transparency channel, the new doesn't (it seems to be completely opaque in the old though);
the new image uses much more colors: 520 for the old, 1226 for the new (can be attributed to the addition of the ghost image);
old image is 28x28 pixels per centimeter, the new is 27.95x27.95 (could be caused by the editing program);
the new image is marked as being produced with macromedia fireworks 4.0, the old is not marked;
the old image has gamma and chromaticity information and rendering-intent ("saturation") specified, the new doesn't.
another interesting thing is, that the difference between the two images has quite a lot of noise over the whole image - if the only difference was the ghost figure, the rest of the difference should be completely black. the images are png which uses lossless compression (zip in this case), so these cannot be compression artifacts, though the noise is stronger on 8-pixel boundaries, forming a grid over the image.
