Either way, they sure know how to make it blatantly obvious. Rolling Eyes

Appears to me the flood have escaped control in delta halo.

A little more than 286 (286.79yrs) years later someone arrived there, and the 'system' has been waiting for the monitor (2401 Penitent Tangent).

If the date they first escaped is considered today (In real life), that would put us in 2294 as of the arrival of the transportation conduits.

Quote:

2291:
A team of researchers, physicists, and mathematicians working in secret developed the Shaw-Fujikawa Translight Engine, a practical means of propelling spacecraft across vast interstellar distances. This new engine allowed ships to tunnel into "the Slipstream" (also called "Slipspace"). Slipspace is a domain with alternate physical laws, allowing faster-than-light travel without relativistic side-effects. Faster-than-light travel is not instantaneous; "short" jumps routinely take up to two months, and "long" jumps can last six months or more.

According to the Halo Story Page
http://halostory.bungie.org/halostory.timeline.html
The technology to space-jump is available, however the story page also notes that Halo was not discovered until September 19, 2552.[/quote]

Well, kind of hard to tell. Like Will said, it's kind of "too easy" for a trailhead; but with Bungie, you never can tell.

ABO's got a thread discussing it here and Bungie.net's got a few threads 1, 2.

one theory is it's related to the upcoming halo map Smuggler
another theory is it's... unknown what it's for =P

I'm going to try to track related stuff on the wiki. (also gotta populate with MercurySS events, just for the record)

At the end of this weeks update:
Quote:
LOG: QUERIED ADJACENT FACILITIES
LF.Xx.3273 research and containment facility [alpha, beta, gamma, epsilon, zeta, and kappa sites] have all replied [systems normal] within expected constraints. This would tend to signify that the containment failure was purely mechanical in nature; perhaps a manufacturing flaw. As no [outside agent] has accessed [delta site] in the past [874068942 hours, 4 minutes, 46 seconds]—[allowing for a 61360 hour, 54, minute, 2 second margin of error]—sabotage would seem unlikely.

LOG: REQUEST UNANSWERED
LF.Xx.3273 research and containment facility; [delta site] is currently being held at [.01 atm] / [184K]. Local maintenance and security hubs have failed to reply within expected constraints. [Bumping maintenance and security request up] to [quadrant oversight].

LOG: REQUEST UNANSWERED
LF.Xx.3273 research and containment facility; [delta site] is currently being held at [1 atm] / [278K] as atmospheric seals were showing signs of stress. [Quadrant oversight] has failed to reply within expected constraints. [Bumping maintenance and security request all the way up] to 2401 [PENITENT TANGENT].

LOG: UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS TO FACILITIES
LF.Xx.3273 research and containment facility; [delta site] emergency [slip stream space] transportation conduits have been accessed by unauthorized parties.

LOG: FILED COMPLAINT TO INSTALLATION 00
2401 [PENITENT TANGENT], monitor of Installation 05, has been lax in the areas of maintenance and security. Requests for aid in said areas have gone unanswered by both 2401 and [subservient] systems well beyond expected constraints.

Pull someone else post over from the other trailhead that pop up Smile for this

Quote:
I have absolutely no idea if this is actually a trailhead or not, but a user, |||||||, has been posting topics on Bnet with a role of "superintendent." The user has a custom avatar and background, and types in green text. The way he's mysteriously posting has me drawing connections to Iris. Also, the Weekly Updates have had text alluding to the Monitor of Installation 05, 2401 Penitent Tangent. Once again, no idea if it is actually a real trailhead, but it's worth watching.

His latest topic is here. He makes a lot of odd comments, such as "KEEP IT CLEAN", "BE A HERO! REPORT VIOLATORS", and "PLEASE REMAIN CALM". Some of them are more humorous, such as "WHITE ZONE FOR LOADING ONLY", "GOOD CITIZENS CONSERVE FUEL", "BEACH OPEN FOR WATER CONTACT", and "YOUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK".

Once again, no idea if he's a trailhead, but I think it could be, due to:

-The odd name and title. No other Bnet user has "superintendent."
-The green text. Nobody uses green text (only yellow and orange).
-The strange messages. Short, all caps messages with a hidden meaning?
-The inability to report. Meaning he's part of an ARG?
-The parallels to AdjutantReflex. It's a little more than coincidence, I'd say.
-The messages at the end of Weekly Updates. All referring to 2401.

All of this adds up to a potential ARG in the making. Sorry if it's a little long, but I needed to bring everyone up to speed. And yes, I know this looks like a new username, but I was here last summer under the same name; my name must've expired.

This could also turn out to be nothing, so close if necessary.

(And let's not forget that there are seven "|"'s in his name. Something fishy...)

It was from Elkayen

Thanks for bringing it over. I'd say that this is more than just a coincidence.

Also, if any of you have Bnet usernames, feel free to join Superintendents, my group about this new character.

These are from NeoGAF. First 6 are the avatars of these 'Superintendents'. Then Frank O Conner (One in the SI T-shirt)and Aaron Greenburg from the May 16th Update. Finally a picture from the Bungie Webcam.

They way they're establishing the character makes me think that it's not connected with The Smuggler. We know there's a map called the Smuggler, and going to the trouble of trademarking a character and making T-Shirts is too much to just hype a map. I think it's representing their next project.

To go crazy, There was an interview with Mario Creator Shigeru Miyamoto where he stated that he could have made Halo. Frankie responded with this:

Quote:
One final question: last week, Shigeru Miyamoto said in an interview with Geoff Keighley in Entertainment Weekly that he could make Halo.

Yeah, well. I just want to go on the record and say that Bungie is hard at work on a side-scrolling platform game featuring some plumbers -- I'm not going to say what their ethnicity is, it's none of anyone's business -- but we took that as a gauntlet, a sort of glove slap, and we're going to respond in 2D scrolling style. That's all I'm saying.

Luke Smith wearing the Janitor Character shirt.

Smuggler is the codename for a new Halo 3 map "Cold Storage" which is a remake of Chill Out from Halo 1. As for the Janitor Character, I still think it's teasing the next Bungie Project. I think we might hear something at E3. At latest PAX (See this weeks update: if you're a fan of Bungie and our games – this is the year to come to PAX. Consider yourself informed and warned. We'll have more on this soon.)
