So, yeah. I'm excited. I signed up, and waiting for some contact. If anyone here needs some help understanding LOST's storyline (if you didn't watch it or whatever), contact me. I'll help you out.

i'm not sure if this has already been answered, but has anyone tried to see if "DHARMA INITIATIVE EABEJNCHDBEBMPZPPM" could be decoded? Perhaps an anagram?

I think that would be our encryption.

If it's true that they (the creators) have learned from their mistakes in the past, then they would have made this event uncrackable. In my opinion, i hope that they have learned from their mistakes. They need to leave the big reveals kept under lock and key until we are meant to find them, not when someone goes to Sourceforce and downloads Flare.

Agreed. Anyone that's played a game or PM'd can agree things are nicer when they go as planned.

FWIW, there's also octagonglobalrecruiting.co.uk but it just redirects to the .com site (which presumably is why it's not listed in the crossdomain file).

If you read over the past few pages you'll see what we've been trying on that front. No luck yet.

I didn't ever play the first lost experience, but did the in game websites have such obvious links to ABC? I did look through a few of the websites after it was over and I feel like they were more integrated, more "real" if you will. When I see that not-so-subtle ABC stamp I get the (dreaded) feeling that this is going to be more of an online game like Find815 and not an actual ARE.

Where else did they put ABC other then on the commercial or maybe in the terms/privacy? I think they kind of had to tie the company into the commercial because it was so subtle, when I first saw it I did not initially think of it as anything until it popped in my head and I gave it a second thought a day or two later.

So far they are using the front of Dharma Initiative which is similar to what they did last time and I have a strong feeling they are going to use this to gradually give more information about things related to the show that they could not fit into the show but wanted the fans to be able to find.

Yes and no. They've said for some time now that this sort of ancillary thing cannot necessarily be considered canon as far as the show's story itself is concerned.

It's still undetermined, for example, if TLE's explanation for the numbers will ever turn out to be specifically referenced and used by the show, so whatever information comes up in this OGR thing doesn't necessarily tell us anything.

Is there some resource of the information gained from TLE (such as the explanation for the numbers)?

I would love to know as this will be my first LOST experience

You need to watch the Sri Lanka Video. It was the endgame of the Lost Experience, which explains alot about the backstory of LOST. It's on YouTube.

Only if they incorporate said backstory into the show in an official capacity.

Quote:

BuddyTV: One thing that's a bit of controversy in the fan community is whether or not any of the information from The Lost Experience game is actually a factor in the universe of the show. Is that something you could clear up for us?

Carlton Cuse: I think that for us, yeah, I mean, all of Alvar Hanso and his relationship with funding the Dharma Initiative is part of the mythology. The details of the Hanso Foundation's demise…it's tangential to the show but it's not unrelated to the show. We sort of felt like the Internet Experience was a way for us to get out mythologies that we would never get to I wain the show. I mean, because this is mythology that doesn't have an effect on the character's lives or existence on the island. We created it for purposes of understanding the world of the show but it was something that was always going to be sort of below the water, sort of the iceberg metaphor, and the Internet Experience sort of gave us a chance to reveal it.

Damon Lindelof: I would say in terms of all the… background that we did, in terms of the Valenzetti equation and explaining the formation of the Hanso Foundation and doing the other films…we'd consider that stuff cannon to the show. Where there'd have to be wiggle room is the Rachel Blake story where she's in the real world, in the outside world as we define it, the show Lost might be defined in an entirely different outside world so we can't vouch for the overall fit ability and veracity of everything that Rachel was doing. But we can say that all the factoids that she was uncovering were vetted, in fact many of them were written by us personally so they are cannon.

Odd, because I've seen them say completely contradictory things on the matter. Heh.

*shrug*

Hi guys,

I haven't played any ARGs before, but I'm looking forward to getting into this one.

I've decompiled the swf, and found some more information that may be useful. The script references a couple of libraries; of note is a crypto lib from crypto.hurlant.com and a platform lib from hoodlum.com.au. If you look up hoodlum's site, you'll see that they are the company that did Find815, along with some other marketing campaigns. INCA is the name of hoodlum's flash platform. They use it on multiple projects. A quick google search on hoodlum and inca brings up some background information on http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/abc_lost_web_adventure.php

I wouldn't get too excited looking for clues in the source; The majority of the code is crypto to protect the content.
