Sweet, can I keep them mommy? I'll be at one of the DC locations on the 24th, awaiting whatever is coming our way. It would suck, however, if I missed some major ILB update in the proccess.

Did you notice anything man-made there? Specifically shelters, towers, an antenna, a sign, or anything like that?

There was a tower there with what I assume were power lines. I didn't notice anything else about the tower though. There were some fences there as well separating an open space to the west. There was also a orange flag almost right where the coordinates pointed to. I assume the city put it there to mark something burried there, but you never know. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need any more information since I work down the street from this location.

My specific theory is here, with a link to some photos I found on the web. Specifically, that some or all of the coordinates have cell phone repeaters at them. Now, the repeaters may be too ubiquitous as clues... if so this may be a waste. But the latest update has been about how Melissa is trying to cut herself a voice, and contains audio clips of voices. This may tie in with that.

-- Steve's now wondering how PCS packets are routed to complete long-distance voice calls... great, another topic to research.

Re: [SPEC] The Obvious Coordinates Conclusion

Hate to spam you with an on-topic post, but...

The coordinates are pointing at realworld locations whose only thing in common is that they're accessible by being on a street. This isn't some list of coords where there's some mathmatical pattern, the locations wouldn't end up being so specific. These are all places right on streets, guys. Look here, here and here, for example. If it were some sort of pattern recognition puzzle, these locations wouldn't be all pointing at streets like they are.

Because this is currently the funniest GPS thread I can find, I'll post this here.

I drove past the Addison/Wilton location on the way home from work today. Saw something I missed when I drove by yesterday.

One on corner is a boarded up building.

The building was apparently condemned by a contractor.

That contractor's name?

Buzy Bee Boarding Company.

Kid you not.

Life's funny, huh?

(if anyone takes this as as serious SPEC, I will hunt you down and beat you Smile )

Why can't this be serious SPEC? What if these are just google searches for the placenames and bees or something?

Yeah, I never got any serious response to the story in Sedalia, Mo (where there's 7 spots)... but it seems like a hell of a coincidence. Double-check me on this, but is this not one of the coordinates?

OK, fine, I'll remove the threat of beating.

But 2 out of 220 isn't very significant. If someone thinks this is possible, someone needs to start hitting the books and pulling a LOT of research together.

Honestly...If Bungie/the PMs want people to be at these real-world locations, why the heck would they pick a time like 6:07am? Seriously, you want to be walking around some of the major cities at that time?

Occam's Razor here doesn't point to real world interaction, it points to distances between points. Why would they link to the applet in Dana's blog? Why are the co-ords in pairs?

Other questions to answer:
Why would they put locations 20 feet from each other, rather than have a location in a more populated area such as Texas or Long Island? How would they expect people to know what time to be in the area, 6:07am each time zone? PST? How does it relate at all to the story? Do they really expect people to be searching around national landmarks and buildings before they open, most likely with camera's to document things, in a time where I can't even take pictures on my local ferry anymore? Also, given the average age of the Halo player is most likely under 18, why have an event they most likely wont be able to get to?

My spec as to why they are all near public buildings/landmarks is to keep people safe in they decide to go to these points. If there was a point in the middle of the woods, someone went there and got hurt, they might be responsible/or at least feel pretty bad.

If the PM's DO intend for us to be there, I really hope they hint at it better and give us some sort of idea that this will be a safe/okay thing to do. If they DONT intend us to go there, I really hope they'll hint at that more deeply before August 24th. I for one don't want to see fellow players wandering around at 6am in the morning unless they are 100% sure of something happening

Ok ive only checked this on the first 6 coordinate pairs, but if you average them together (to get the mid point between the 2 corrdinates)... they're conspicuously... inconspicous, and the more I think about the Axon reference... can any one say US Armed Forces? The first mid point is smack dab in a marine base in California... Twentynine Palms Marine Corps Base at 34.50495 -115.9753... if anyone checks into this feel free to please post your findings all over the net cuz i dont post about this ARG much.

may refer to Philomela who had her tongue cut out by her husband. Unable to speak she wove charecters into a robe to communicate with her sister.

It ends as all the best greek myths do with people eating their own children and being turned into birds "

wove charecters into a robe! I think this gives us some incentive to go back to looking for patterns. Has anyone looked at city wide patterns? as in the center locus of the 7 points at Sedalia?

BTW. I mentioned this puzzle at work and the boss asked if we had checked out military spots? (~shudder~)

If you need it, here's a link to a map of US Military bases (you guys aren't terrorists, right? Shocked ). I know someone made a spreadsheet of the averages (by coordinates, not by distance) in the 30+ page thread. I'll look into that, as well, because I kind of like the idea that the Op is trying to contact the military.

edit: forgot the linke (DOH!)... http://www.cr.nps.gov/nagpra/documents/BasesMilitaryMAP.htm

edit numbero 2: xnbomb already did the distance midpoints... you can find them right around in this link... http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5476&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=average&start=405
Some of the points fall in the ocean... so unless there are bases there (I'm not saying there aren't), I think things kinda fell through for distance midpoints.

I thought the same thing about the places in the ocean but I'm also thinking they could be places where the navy does some small training exercises, because the first place I know is in a Marine base but looking at pictures of the place it looked more like a training area, and the second spot I havent confirmed is related to the armed forces but theyre is a clearing right next to the coordinate. Like I said I haven't checked out all 110 of the mid points yet lol. So right now im just workin on a hunch.

You are NOT gonna believe this!

Row-017 Col-001
1410 65, SEDALIA, MO, 65301, PETTIS COUNTY, US
http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?latlongtype=decimal&latitude=38.7006&longitude=-93.2505
38.7006 -93.2505

Sedalia, MO KMART from above story:
1400 South Limit Avenue
Sedalia, MO 65301-5116
Phone: (660) 827-1550

http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?country=US&address=1400+South+Limit+Avenue+&city=Sedalia&state=MO

OK... this has to be it... its just too much to be a coincidence... plus the bee references at other sites. I think we need to devote some attention to this possibility. (may still have deeper meaning... but I think there's something here)

Heh. Nice spot floorneyne Worshippy

I have to admit, that is pretty interesting. It seems like that is what the PMs were looking for when they made some of these coords. So are we to continue checking other sites for possible bee references? And even if we find them, how will that solve this puzzle? I am not "bee"littling this find in any way, I think it is a good start to get a better look at this, but it still doesn't seem like the solution.
