OT: Why aren't the ingame forums more active?

I have believe its that there is nothing that they provide that UF members aren't already getting here. I'm not sure about the other communities, but it feels like everytime I'm over there its a rehash of what I already know.

I think part of the reason is that the characters themselves aren't active in the forums. I mean, if Ariadne posted occassionally, you'd feel like you were interacting with them. I don't know if the other athletes are more active or not.. I did see alot of posts from Diego and Monica in their forum at one point.

I just think that maybe if some game information was released there, or interactions happened, that community would grow over there. We'd have a reason to visit.. right now, I sometimes go a week before remembering I have to check in over there..

Well i can only speak for Lucie's forum, but it's definitly unactive. In fact, i am the one providing info into it (info i get here)

Actually, even Lucie's blog seems quite far away from the others. I think a little more communication BETWEEN the six would help greatly increasing their communities : Every six should post in the others forum from time to time.

That should even be an IG thing. As a quite newcomer in FTLR, i'm surprised that the six don't talk more to each other.

You mean like this one?
http://forums.findthelostring.com/thread/1749 (2 IG characters in one thread)
Most likely because Diego shares forums with Monica, I find it amusing though Very Happy

I sorta think Diego is more likely to post in his forum because he is our Mythopoeia?

Mei post in hers, but doesn't get a lot of answers.

The in-game forum pages for the characters choke my browser to an unholy degree and I spend a lot of time looking at a little spinning symbol waiting for these pages to load. (I mean these pages: http://www.findthelostring.com/ariadne/home.do or http://www.findthelostring.com/diego/home.do etc) And if I navigate from a main page into a forum, I can't navigate back or between character pages, so I have to start again (wait for it to reload.) The screening of comments to main page entries - or whatever is going on that delays the visibility of comments posted there- keep those pages from being interactive.

Depending on what computer I'm using, I sometimes can't log into the forums to post because I get a message about needing a driver I don't have. I know that problem is on my end, but if a lot of people experience that, it might be a factor in the use/ nonuse of those forums.

The short answer is that communicating is easier and faster through other avenues.

You can tell Ariadne isn't very active in her own forum because in the "Top Members" section I'm shown two slots above her, and I don't even visit those forums very often!

I think there could be a bit of a vicious cycle to the inactivity there. When someone new comes along and posts something (or someone old comes along and decides to give those forums another try), the lack of activity there leads to that person's post getting no responses, or very few. The original poster feels unacknowledged, gets frustrated (or just shrugs), and leaves, and therefore isn't around to offer support/debate/etc. when someone else comes along and posts something. If at least Ariadne were acknowledging ideas on her forum (and the other athletes on their forums), there could be more of a discussion ("Oh, really? I hadn't thought about that...but what about such-and-such? What do you think about this, Player B?").

I agree.. which is why I started the discussion here, in hopes of it getting read by a 'monitor'. I'd really like to see them more active, as it would be a great resource for non-UF members, but I think it's dead.

I mean, with all this promotion and the size of this thing, to only be getting videos posted from UF members seems reflective of that same problem. < 10 Theo joining documentation? They've gotta want more.. Same thing with labyrinths practices...

I dunno, it just doesn't seem that the size of the player response is equivalent to the scope of the game, and I'm afraid that's because non-UFers aren't being drawn in.

Will their be "official" ad around the world ? until now everything was mostly underground but as august is now not too far, maybe direct ads (from IOC, or Mcdonalds) could put some fresh energy into the IG forums ?
