Oh, wow! More LA help, yay! I PM'd fairyqueene last week based on a "willing to do LA-area pickup" post for another game, and just now saw that we've attracted labfly's pity as well. Smile Go us?

I'm all for posting a shout-out, just not sure where to do it. META/General? Social Interactions? Player Help? Confused

So I talked with labfly and due to proximity and schedules I'll be searching for the L.A. shard on Sunday. I don't have a cassette recorder but I do have a recording device on my cell phone that works pretty well. I'll take pictures as well.

Thank you, thank you! For two of the shards, the hunters did the same with their cell phone and it worked out pretty well. There were a few words that were difficult to make out on the recording, but for the most part we got the message.

Petunia, why don't you ask one of the moderators of Chaotic Fiction where you should post a shout-out? Addlepated has been great about getting back to me when I've had questions, and I bet the other moderators would be willing to help as well. Great idea, by the way--go you! Very Happy

Ok, so I went shard hunting today and.....no luck. I spent a good hour up there digging through the bushes and found nothing. It is a really bad place to hide something (or a really good one depending on your intentions) as all it is is bushes and tiny dead trees. The trees, by the way, were in a fire at some point because I came home covered in ash. Also, the bushes were either the prickly kind, or the sticky kind (I think they may have ruined a pair of pants). So....it really sucked. I know there are scorpions and rattle snakes in those mountains and I did not appreciate being expected to poke around bushes off of the trail. Don't get me wrong, I love hiking and being outdoors, but this wasn't a lot of fun. I'm just glad I didn't drag an innocent friends along. I may have lost their friendship by the end of the day. I'm really sorry I didn't find it guys. I know you need it. Labfly and company are totally welcome to give it a shot themselves. However, I have a feeling this is one shard that might remain unfound.

Hey, there are no apologies necessary. You went out to find something for someone else's game, which was a great favor, and you did your best to find it. Personally, I salute you for going out of your way for people you don't even know. Besides, it's kind of like you did scout work for us. If anyone DOES try to find that shard, they at least have some kind of idea what they are getting themselves into.

I'd say that you deserve an ARG Medal of Valor, if there was such a thing. Thanks very much for going out on the hunt! Worshippy

THANK YOU for literally going the extra mile for your fellow ARGers, even though it was for a game you weren't even playing. Yea verily, thou dost rock. Worshippy

Don't worry about it guys. It was an adventure. It would have been more fun if I had actually found it, but c'est la vie. We're a community. We help each other out!

Thanks so much for trying! Let me know if you ever need someone to peek around London for something.

Well, I think we're stalled at the moment. I keep going back and looking at the website to see if more shard locations are posted or if the other mscapes have gone up, but it looks like they haven't even uploaded the Water mscape that those of us who have ipaqs received. We'll be returning them at the end of the month, so one assumes that all will be available prior to then.

Gee, we're sure this is the same developer that did MG? Because it's sure moving a LOT slower than MG ever did!
