Hi Phoenix Talon. Way to make an entrance with a bang--good info and theories.
Nice find Chiarac. I guess "private research" means trying to recreate his daughter--but didn't dr. scott say the project has international interest?
SPI, lols--next time I catch Dr. Scott online I'm totally going to ask if he knows what the F stands for.
Gonzo, I agree. I don't think a name with a meaning like that would have been thrown for no purpose
And Chiarac again, that's a very interesting chat. My concerns that Dr. Scott isn't neccessarily a good doctor are rising. I don't like how he refers to Providence as a pale immitation and nothing more than a construct.
Ok, I do believe I've thrown in more than my two cents. Wink

 		OMG, dr Scott is just like Providence, they're deleting him!
I went a bit further with my chat... he seemed quite upset and nervous, while reading other chats he looked a nice guy with some humor and so. I asked about Patiance and Lazarus, he said

It's interesting, and seems to mirror some of what's going on here. But upon reading this, I now believe I may have judged wrong about what he's using the GAT for. I still believe he can/is using it for storage of a consciousness, but I'm not sure to what end. Maybe he's going off the assumption that a mind can't live without living tissure as an anchor.

It would explain a lot with Providence if she was constantly shifting in and out of her body. It would explain much about her ability to work with computers as she does, but still be able to go outside. Edits to her personality also make sense, too. They could edit her while she's in the computer, and when she returns to her body, the new "program" overwrites the old one.

Just a thought.... I have a vivid imagination sometimes.

 		Chiarac--that's so freaky! Shocked I'm really worried about him now. I just finished a chat with him. I wanted to ask if he was a posthuman...but didn't manage it. He seemed fine--if tired. Not confused at all. I'm not quite sure what's going on.
Here's the whole chat, if anyone wants. I think the parts between where he first went away and when I started talking to him again are when something weird happened. I don't think I got anything new out of him, but things seem to be getting worse in the lab.

Chiarac, I was just curious about your chat with Dr. Scott.... Good work, by the way, getting all that lovely information!

I should have included this in my last post but I wanted to think about it for a while and look up some stuff (to get the continuity straight in my head).

I seem to remember that Dr. Scott was "dismissed" much earlier (Providence told us that) for what he did to her. What exactly would "dismissed" mean? And how would he, simply, come back to work? She also said "they" were trying to do the same thing to Dr. Green, but she wouldn't let them (but that's a different conversation).

Furthermore, did it seem to anyone else like he was having portions of his brain rewritten while he was in the middle of the chat? I'm starting to wonder something. Could Dr. Scott be Dr Green's latest victim?

What if the reason Dr. Green was giving Providence access to the internet was so she could learn to use the computer while she was inside it? If Dr. Scott was in the computer too he would be in a position to help Providence, and it would explain his sudden reappearance back at work. It would also explain his "confusion" occurring real time.

But I'm starting to think that whoever is in the computer is not in there all the time. And while they are in the computer, it would be just like they were sitting in front of it.

Sorry for my rant. Like I said, I have quite an imagination.

Wait.... that was just a joke, but... If there are that many personalities in one space on the computer, they might be running out of room... maybe they are fighting for position in the computer, or they are leaking out, or the data is degrading over time.

Ouch! I think I just pulled a brain muscle...

phoenix, once again: I love your ideas!
BUT if they're all artificial... than what about the posthuman project?is it just fictional, an AI pretending to work on biological bodies, who are in fact only binary constructs?
or maybe the doctors were real persons, than have been "transferred" into pure consciousness inside the computer, just like providence. Idea OH, maybe THAT was the new apartment providence was moving into! she was moving into the computer!
maybe with providence "they" tried to build a personality from scratch, that's whay she could sound childish. being inspired onto a dead girl, they couldn't transfer a dead consciousness, they had to recreate it.
then for some reason they start messing up with the doctors' consciousness, and this time they can transfer it, as they are alive.
This must be very confused, I'm just thinking aloud... Embarassed

Providence couldn't save me?

They can't come back from the dead, but they were never really alive?

Well, there are a few basic conclusions we can draw from that. If Providence didn't really exist then she was simply more then a metastasized idea. But she had to exist in some capacity, right? Dr. Green and Dr. Scott have both spoken about post humans (which I don't believe they've come right out and said "hey! they're post humans") what if they're in a sense "Post-computers" which would be a computer with a fragment of human existence in it. Something similar but much more advanced then AI, something that had feelings, consciousness and a soul who lived out they're entire existence on the internet.

This is just an idea of course... but after reading those conversations with Dr. Scott and VD I'm getting the feeling that they're both being controlled by something larger.

 		I'm thinking maybe there's some kind of bug in the system? As in when they wipe the previous personalities, it's not completely wiped clean. Which could explain the disorientation caused by the multiple personality that Phoenix suggested.

If that's the case, maybe then we can use the loophole in the system to bring Providence back. Just some wishful thinking here, hehe.

 		Is it possible that she was uploaded into the Doc's brain? In a sense, if that were the case, then she never really existed, the Doc existed, but she was more like a memory in his head...

 		Been lurking on unfiction for a loooooooong time. This story has captured me to the point where I wanted to join in. It seems Dr.Green is very confused, so I sent him quite a mashup of social engineering statements, posing as a "client" of Dr.Green's posthuman research.
