http://pl.youtube.com/watch?v=I8d6iOgACnk is the original link. Maxwell papers and such. People seemed to argue a lot over whether or not it was a real or fan made video but no one bunked it.

interesting video not seeing the shadow tho.

(I can't wait until this thing is underway and we can have threads that focus on in-game stuff instead of endless speculation about OOG stuff.)

Its on the animation on the site and in the animation on the video. On the small inner section of the trigram to the left of the purple orb. On the inner side right next to the orb there is a small bit of shadow/black bit of orb which comes up and then disappears as the animation resets. Its just a little annoyance sorry.

Better idle speculation and attempts to decode the impossible than everyone saying how they wish they were going to comic con and how theyre "in" this arg.

"Jacob loves you" is a reference to the LOST episode "Not in Portland" and the Room 23 video. As you guys already got, Jacob is a mysterious "person" that is the leader of the Others.

The problem is, it's difficult enough as it is to get new players to read what's been posted before jumping in with stuff we've probably already seen. That's only going to get even worse if we give them a thread that's about nonsense and sites that have been around too long to be part of this game.

would it be a good idea to make a [SPEC] and [DISCUSSION] thread? it makes sense to not bog this one down with unrelated material so when we get some information people looking to jump in won't have to look so hard.

A speculation thread might as well turn into a discussion thread for all of LOST, rather then just the ARG. We do not know enough at this point to start making new threads.

jacoblovesyou is not on these lists, but the links should come in handy later.

Lostpedia: Websites - lists official, fan, imitation, etc sites
&
Lostpedia: Hoax - lists for hoax sites, fan art/vids, etc

EDIT: to prevent double-posting

The trigrams shown in the rotating ring read

Chen Ken Tui

or

Thunder Mountain Lake

I also read them as such. But, the octagon makes a full rotation with the trigrams visible. So I think there could be 6 trigrams in the image.
Chen/Ken/Tui first and then Ken/Chen/Sun on the second. Ken/Chen/Sun is Chen/Ken/Tui turned upside down Wink
HERE is a little chart I threw together from this chart.
Might help fuel some more leads?

Until we get any actual leads I doubt the confusion of multiple threads for pure speculation is necessary. As soon as this thing kicks off, I'm sure we'll get moved to CF with Potential if not a separate sub-forum. Plus if you think these new players have a hard time reading one thread... just think about multiple threads. Sad

This makes me sad. I am new (as is obvious by the number of posts I have). I hate being new at something (and dealing with the stereotype associated with it perhaps for good reason, perhaps not), but I promise that I for one will do my best to read before I ask.

And you guys are right, Lostpedia is an incredibly vast collection of information for all things Lost. I love it.

A lot of the decyphering posts got me thinking, and I shifted every letter of the letter scramble back one in the alphabet, and out of that, I pieced together "I call a bad dog doom," with the letters y and z left over. Pretty sure this isn't a major find, but it put me in mind of Cerebrus, the "bad dog" that guards the gates to Hades. Also the name of "smokey," the island's defense system.

Apopheniac, Fridge, when I looked at the octagon logo, I got:

ken, chen, sun the first time; then:
k'un, ken, chen.

Any ideas?

Summary So Far

Just to summarize what we have so far (for new players that don't like reading):

BACKGROUND:

During the Lost Season 4 Finale a commercial advertising Octagon Global Recruiting aired. It described a chance for volunteers to help in various unpaid positions, and directed interested parties to the website Octagonglobalrecruiting.com

Once at the website, the same video of the advertisement is played, followed by a brief statement and an email sign up box. The website mentions that Octagon Global Recruiting is working on behalf of the Dharma Initiative to fill positions for a new research project, and will begin recruitment on July 24-27 in San Diego.

DISCOVERIES:

In the video advertisement there is a list of jobs, which if the first letter of every position is read starting at the bottom gives dharmainitiativeeabejnchdbebmpzppm.

This obviously contains the words Dharma Initiative followed by a seemingly random string of letters eabejnchdbebmpzppm.

The letter string is believed to be some sort of code or cypher, but no clear leads have been discovered.

Of interesting note, in the list of jobs the position of "Engineer" appears twice.

The dates and location given for the recruitment drive corresponds to the dates of the San Diego Comic Con.

The rotating octagon shows trigrams similar to those of the Dharma Initiative Logo. They seem to be Mountain Thunder Wind, and Thunder Mountain Lake.

In the video, the phrase "Explore the Possibilities" is used. This is the slogan for the Dharma Initiative.

Explore the Possibilities and Octagon Global Recruiting contain the exact same number of letters.

OUT OF GAME:

A video discovered at http://pl.youtube.com/watch?v=I8d6iOgACnk seems to be fan made, because of its lack of connection to the OGR website, the logical question of why Jacob would be included with a OGR video, and because the user made a seemingly fake video for FIND815.
