[TRAILHEAD?] The Quarantine New Website Found? Hey guys. This is my first real post, although I have been following along with several ARGs for a while (mostly the Lost Experience). Hadn't registered sooner because I never had anything substantial to contribute that hadn't already been found... (you guys are fast!) Until this, anyway.
http://thequarantine.com
Found this site when looking around for info on the upcoming movie QUARANTINE, which seems to be in the middle of developing an ARG of its own (with the YouTube video) and all that. I searched the forums and didn't find much about this movie, and I definitely didn't find any comments about this site, so maybe I'm the first to find it?
Anyway, this page has a (photoshopped?) image of some glyphs on a stone wall against a black background, along with the title "Uncover the Truth." All I could find from the source was that the image is called "mexico.jpg" Maybe you guys can work some more magic and find out what this page has to offer? My guess is something will happen with it when we get closer to the release date of the movie. For now, at least, I'll be taking some pride in being the first one to have found this site... hopefully.

It looks like it's about some kind of zombie-virus-outbreak in a hotel. There's this film crew that gets trapped inside, and they film the action Cloverfield-style. Seems kind of cheesy tbh, but it's a remake of a recent Spanish (?) film called [Rec] which was supposed to be really good.

Anyway, i'll be back in about 20 mins, gotta do rl stuff

Well if you look at the whois:

You'll notice a GMail address as the contact address. Bit of a curious one too. I am not familiar with the film, but with that said unless the name and other details fit some character in the film or fit the style of the film's characters, I'd say it's probably nothing to do with the film. It's also been around since this time last year. That makes it more likely it's someone's ARG or other CF or project.
The alternate text for the image is a bit curious: 12 19 15 7 2 5 10
No idea what that could mean yet.

Glyphs Well, thanx to "Tom Tooman" I pretty confident in saying that the glyphs are Mayan. The glyph is a word and the lines with dots on the side are numbers. could possibly be a date or countdown? (At least I got something out of Tom! )
EDIT: The alternate text of numbers matches with the numbers written in Mayan, though not in order. I guess we'll just need to decipher the glyphs? My brains a little fuzzy regarding the Tom Tooman days, but if I remember right, the glyph with a number was used to signify a day of the year.

I don't know enough about the movie to say if this may fit in line with any of the characters... Ryan Reynolds doesn't show up on the list of chars on IMDB.

Ryan Reynolds is one of my favorite actors but sadly is not in this film.

Well I decided to start into the Mayan glyphs and lo and behold, the numbers by the glyps are 12, 19, 15...
Look familiar?
So now on to see if I can figure out the words/syllables of the glyphs...
ETA: It's a calendar date, almost todays, but the next to the last glyph is not correct. It's Ik, whereas today should be in Kawak according to the date converter here:
http://www.ancientscripts.com/maya.html
ETA the second: It's June 7 2008 - this Saturday.

I'm glad you found that converter! I was digging through all my old notes and couldn't find it!

I think I have family near that address. Daring choice of registrants, though.
Well it's obviously not related to the movie of the same name. I mean, there's no blatant, un-subtle reference to the movie ANYWHERE on that site! They expect us to, what... guess?

Or uh, check back on Saturday - the date shown in the Mayan glyphs?

Don't know if you understood my comment... The 1018 campaign for Quarantine, the movie, very frequently forgot the concept of TINAG. They were very in your face "this is for a movie, dummy!" about the whole thing.
No matter... Yeah, I'll check it then.
