You can create interactive videos with this, it now seems possible to make big, in depth adventure games and such with yt, but could this help args in any way?

On the up side of this is that it can be made so that one can easily backtrack if they stumble into the chain of videos midstream. The problem is that all of the videos are still in your public collection of videos, so it's easy to 'spoiler' the whole process by just browsing the user's videos. Of course that same situation is how you could enter at the wrong point. I imagine with some very clever authoring, one could create a set of videos where it's hard to break things even if they are viewed out of order.

I think this has some fun potential for a video version of choose-your-own-adventure; however, I'm not sure it's going to revolutionize ARGs. Like Euchre said, all of the videos are still in the person's public profile. (One way around that would be to have all of the videos in different accounts; however, you'd still have problems with related videos showing up beside the initial video.)

Still, there is some fun potential here. I could definitely see an ARG utilizing these technologies in a fun way; I just don't think it's going to revolutionize the genre.

When I heard of this on G4 and saw the demo of a guy performing some stupid card trick, I was immediately taken back to the first SEGA CD games. Remember the tunnel game that came with the CD unit? What was that called? There was also the house, with Debbie Harry and one of those Cory actors. I can't remember his last name.

Anyway, I haven't looked too much into the API's for this new feature, but I bet I could come up with something like Space Ace or Dragon's Lair. It might be a bit tricky, but I'm sure there would be a method to hide some of the video links.

Really, I could probably just go ahead and write up something in flash, but the YouTube method would allow nearly anyone to create this type of game. Plus, the added benefit of not having to host the videos yourself. Downside: long load times and low resolution. I really wish that YouTube didn't reconvert the video.
