[META] Players going to Beijing

I saw somewhere on the forums, but I can't find it now, (I'm the worst ever at using search) a mention of the possible chance for a player to go to the Olympics. I am positive, though quite sorry to say so, that any trip for a player to the Olympics just isn't a realistic possibility.

One of my best friends works for the NBC olympic coverage team and I asked her about getting people to Beijing. She said it is very difficult process and takes a long time to prepare, what with the visa and the legal issues involved.

I am loving this game and all the players. I really don't want anyone to get unrealistic hopes of a trip to Beijing. I'm sure that the game will be represented in many ways at the Olympics possibly by people playing the labyrinth there or maybe even in the official ceremonies, but I don't think we can count on a trip to Beijing as a result of this game - it just isn't possible.

But we can have a great time following along with the story as the Olympics unfold. I've pointed my friends at NBC to follow the game - I'm hoping they will decide to cover it...how cool would that be for us.

The post you are referring to can be found here. You've just confirmed my original assessment of the situation - I guess Jane McG meant a symbolical participation and presence in Beijing. It's really so horribly, horribly far out of reach ...

True. Like the other thread mentioned, there will probably be some visual representation during the ceremonies of Labyrinth running that will make just as much sense to the average viewer as any of the rest of it does every four years. Seriously, I never understand the ceremony acrobatics shows and theatrics, but this I would for once.
