Fly Derrie-Air -- Viral Campaign for News Adverts

My boss showed me some amusing advertisements in the Philadelphia Daily News for a fictitious airline that charges by the pound -- the paper was literally peppered with ads for FlyDerrie-Air.com: this is not an ARG, but it is amusing. It's a campaign put on by Gyro Worldwide Advertising to show how effective newspaper ads can be.

Here's an article in BusinessWeek on the campaign.

That's actually kind of a good idea.

I like. Of course, I'm sure people would stop eating days before a flight to save money and end up passing out onboard. Or, at least I probably would. Embarassed

My initial reaction upon seeing the ads was betting it was sponsored by a consumer group protesting the $25 luggage fees airlines are charging.

I'll update this with the tracking information they provide (if they do so) next week.
