(SPEC)

Looks like the Brain Drain could be instrumental in a future puzzle.

brain drain uses the word "binary", and refers to patterns in dreams.

[spec]one of those dreamprojector videos has a binary code hidden in it. clearly not in sound, as the um.n story, but maybe in the images. [/spec]

the dream about the marching band, the woman mentions rhythms that dont match the band, pulsating, sounds a lot like the woman on urbanmythology.net.

clearly a connection, but what to make of it?

Beware! Wild speculation of a first-time poster!

This is the second urban legend that deals with the effect of sound on the unconscious mind. The first one notes that certain sounds could potentially cause the kinds of effects people feel in haunted houses; this one implies that the sounds can enter people's dreams. Someone in the original urbanmythology.net thread suggested that CMH might have been a test site for some sort of military weapon based on sound. Is it also possible that something like wind blowing through the tunnels could produce a natural sound that could induce madness?

dreams, sound and evil afoot

There seems to be some connections beginning to take shape here. I don't know about military experimentation or tunnel noises but it wouldn't surprise me if somehow this is connected to Dream Projector. Please humor me while I take a dive off the deep end…

While contestants sleep (dream) the House of Dread team uses continuously played sounds to agitate/stress/horrify them during their waking hours. Could these same sounds effect contestant's dreams?

What if Tomorrow's Talk wanted to experiment with something radically new to television, the broadcasting of someone's dreams. TT hires Dream Projector, and using continuously played sounds designed to influence dreaming/nightmares in their reality show subjects the Dream Projector team records the very nightmares of the shows contestants. These are supposed to be used to illustrate the stress/horror that the contestants are experiencing to the show's television audience. Instead the sounds have the unexpected effect of driving both cast and crew stark raving mad….

Wow, that *is* fantastic speculation. The only reason I was going for some "naturally" produced sound is that it would also explain the previous reports of the place being haunted - but there's no reason why there can't be both supernatural and scientific factors responsible for the deaths of all those people.

Also, your theory would give an even better motive for TT to want to cover everything up - if they actually *caused* everyone's death, they could get the pants sued off them. They might even be vulnerable to criminal charges.
