[HOLO][SOLVED][EMAIL] from RK 6/10 "Safeguard the Code" Just got an email from RK - kinda hope no one posted already.
Title was "Safeguard the code". I forget what code this is, but it looks like C or something. I don't remember how to get that to work, so whoever knows it, have fun.
Quote:
int i, n = 5;
for( i = 1; i n)*(i-n)
print
int i, n = 7;
for( i = 1; i n)*(i-n)
print
int i, n = 4;
for( i = 1; i n)*(i-n)
print
int i, n = 6;
for( i = 1; i n)*(i-n)
print
int i, n = 7;
for( i = 1; i n)*(i-n)
print
int i, n = 3;
for( i = 1; i n)*(i-n)
print
int i, n = 6;
for( i = 1; i n)*(i-n)
print
int i, n = 4;
for( i = 1; i n)*(i-n)
print
int i, n = 5;
for( i = 1; i n)*(i-n)
print
int i, n = 8;
for( i = 1; i n)*(i-n)
print
int i, n = 5;
for( i = 1; i n)*(i-n)
print
P.S. Oddly enough, I had just opened up RK's flickr when I get an email from him. *Runs around room screaming about hidden cameras*

I had just sent him an email, as well. How's that for alignment of the stars?

I got it too, and noticed that RK updated H0ll0wm0ves to include this:
Quote:
Hide and seek
I X D E R T H V A S H J O L P W E V G T
M D W S U I S Q E R O S T Q A O L C H B
H Q F A J C E Q S U U Y V B K A X C Q Y
C Q Y U C G R D S W O L P U T F M N C X
N C X S U D V J F D R O C Q S S N L Z V
E W U C P K L A J C Y V E D E Q S F T V
T R Y C G J H N U D O O W S G T Z K L Q
F E T F E C T Y U K W C D A D V N M I K

M Y Q E K O T P G F D S T Y I D E S C O
N Q U Y T E F P D C J K S U H G Y O L B
Think they're related?

This might be a little easier to work with...
Code:
I X D E R T H V A S H J O L P W E V G T
M D W S U I S Q E R O S T Q A O L C H B
H Q F A J C E Q S U U Y V B K A X C Q Y
C Q Y U C G R D S W O L P U T F M N C X
N C X S U D V J F D R O C Q S S N L Z V
E W U C P K L A J C Y V E D E Q S F T V
T R Y C G J H N U D O O W S G T Z K L Q
F E T F E C T Y U K W C D A D V N M I K
H Q R U N C S L E C A J N D V G R T Z S
M Y Q E K O T P G F D S T Y I D E S C O
N Q U Y T E F P D C J K S U H G Y O L B
If you take the n
th
letter from each line, you get RSAGVUJFNPT , which is no help...

As is RK's MO, I"m sure that every puzzle we get today will have the same answer. He / she likes to bash us over the head with clues...

For some reason, this looks like differential equations that I slept through. Anyone else?
Also, for no luck, I took the alpha-numerical representation approach and got: EDGFGCFDEHEE
Which is, nothing.

It's not proper C++ or C#, that's for sure.

It's C-like, but not any real programming language I think.
Code:
int i, n = 5;
for( i = 1; i n)*(i-n)
print
Says i is an integer, n is 5. Basically saying from where i is one to where i is i n * i-n, print something. (Don't really know C that well, this is based on what most programming languages are like. If someone can correct me that'd be great.)

I've got one of my RAD tools open which can let me test several variants of the for loop we're looking at. The first thing I did was attempt to figure out just what they want us to accomplish in the for loop.
Under the assumption that the loop runs from 1 to (n - 1) and calculating a returned value of i*n * (i-n) returns the following:
Code:
-20 -30 -30 -20
-42 -70 -84 -84 -70 -42
-12 -16 -12
-30 -48 -54 -48 -30
-42 -70 -84 -84 -70 -42
-6 -6
-30 -48 -54 -48 -30
-12 -16 -12
-20 -30 -30 -20
-56 -96 -120 -128 -120 -96 -56
-20 -30 -30 -20
Note: For i = 1 to n, annex a 0 to the end of each line.
In this case, the results form a palindrome of values and therefore is less likely a correct method.
A returned value of (i*10 + n) * (i - n) returns the following:
Code:
-60 -75 -70 -45
-102 -135 -148 -141 -114 -67
-42 -48 -34
-80 -104 -108 -92 -56
-102 -135 -148 -141 -114 -67
-26 -23
-80 -104 -108 -92 -56
-42 -48 -34
-60 -75 -70 -45
-126 -168 -190 -192 -174 -136 -78
-60 -75 -70 -45
Note: For i = 1 to n, annex a 0 to the end of each line.
Since these results return unique values for all digits it's a more likely correct method, although I don't know how to apply it to the letters matrix from the blog.

Coding puzzles rock! (for me at least) Goody! I like coding puzzles ... will take a swag at it tonight when I get home. Someone else will probably have an answer before me though... while I make my way through the commute home

I have no idea what the question is or what the clues mean, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say the answer is June 17th.
Call it a hunch...

[OOG] Puzzle example I'm operating under the assumption it's a Wheel of Fortune puzzle.
Code:
_ A _ _ _ _ _ _ E R
A N D _ _ A M _
_ _ _ _ E R S _ N
_ A _ _ _ T _ E S _ _ T
_ A L _ _ N _ _ A _ E
RSTLNE CDM A
Before & After
You have 5 seconds to solve it. Good luck.
Edit - added OOG tag to post subject so as to not confuse people trying to solve RK's puzzle - c

I'm going to guess the third to last word is SPOT... This is what came out of the code?
EDIT: And maybe the last word is PAGE? idk
