Seed Five, huh?

Well, like everything else with this, there's something that looks enticing but probably means nothing: The Slip track titled "Demon Seed" is the only song on the albums whose lyrics are numbered, and verse #5 reads:
Quote:
5
now i know
what this is all about
now i know
exactly what i am

Anyone else here going to the Cleveland show?

EDIT: Also, it may bear repeating that the third verse listed in the lyrics is never sung (left on the cutting room floor?):
Quote:
3
i thought maybe
i thought this would go away
but it continues
the only constant
every day
stronger

Interesting. I might try to hit up the Cleveland show.

More tantalizing language at www.nin.com from Trent, concerning the release of the free EP [bolding mine]:

Quote:
I am proud to announce the final personnel lineup of nine inch nails for the foreseeable future. We've added, we've subtracted and we've wound up with unquestionably the strongest lineup I've EVER had. Joining me onstage will be Robin Finck, Alessandro Cortini, Josh Freese and Justin Meldal-Johnsen.

We've been working on something really special for these shows and so far I couldn't be happier with the results. We'll be revealing some live performances shortly here on nin.com - in the meantime, we've posted some photos from rehearsals up on Flickr here.

Meanwhile, I assume some of you may not be entirely familiar with the acts I've chosen to join us on various legs of this tour, so we've compiled a sampler EP for you. CLICK HERE to download this for free. If you like what you hear, be sure to show up early to the show (and please remember to support them by purchasing their music, if so inclined).

Best,
TR

EDITED:

Never mind the Seed thing. Here's an explanation from the folks at ETS:

The "seed" thing is something like the "halo" thing, but for promotional releases instead of official releases.

i could be wrong but if i remember correctly i think With Teeth was labeled as Seed 1 when it came out

i think trent started calling them Seeds instead of Halo's because he's been self releasing records for the past few years

maybe Halo is associated with Interscope or nothing Records

just a hunch.

On halos and seeds

Halos are complete albums.

Seeds are samplers.

Now... has somebody done spectral analysis on the newest seed? Why use the name "Lights in the Sky" for the seed but include the song "Echoplex"? (is it just because or is there a hint there?).

spectral analysis

I'm pretty sure a spectral analysis has been done on every track on the new CD by the folks at ETS. In fact, I'm just about positive that if there is a game, it won't start until the tour begins.

That said, could anyone recommend good, free spectral analysis software? (I apologize for being lazy, by the way. I'm sure I could also just do a few searches and answer my own question.)

Sorry for the double-post, but I just wanted to post this link to Wired magazine's feature on NIN's tour. It's a really interesting article, but I'm posting it here because it includes this encouraging, if painfully vague, bit of information:
Quote:
There are also talks between NIN and director James Cameron to film the show in 3-D ("to at least have proof when U2 rips us off next year that we did it first," Reznor says), and the band also has been in ongoing discussions with HBO for a Year Zero miniseries which would launch in conjunction with a second album and an alternate-reality game.

Ooooh. Hope that comes together! Smile

I'd be more than happy if just one of the three made it to the public. Now, all three would be awesome. We've seen how this guy works, if Trent sets something in his mind, it's gonna be done. Plus, it's HBO, there's no way they can screw this up. This bit of rumor/news made my day, thanks.

Awesome news!!!

Now let's just hope that 1 of the three rumors/ideas see the light of day.

this is probably a dumb question but....

did anything ARG-ish happen at the show?

any weird flyers or pictures on the walls?

just a shot in the dark.

Nothing I noticed, and I had floor tickets, too. :/ I would so love to see another NIN ARG since I missed the first one, but I didn't notice anything weird at the show. Trent's family was actually in the crowd, which is probably the only special thing about the Cleveland show - I actually live really close to his hometown.

The show was amazing though. Definitely see it if you get a chance in your city!
