We need something better than 3 rooms... it gets hard to manage D:

We've abandoned the #thenode room to go to mibbit. So there's only 2 now.

Dear lord! This poor arg is keeping us soo unbusy that we have devolved into people who argue about which chat room to use to solve "puzzle" on a game that forgets to include a link to youtube!

And just for the record Natas.... last night I got kicked from "your nice and polite channel" just for being and uF member (or a uF spy as they put it) and popping in to say hi and see what they figured out.

I'm ready to abandon ship on this stupid arg.

Guys, honestly: One would assume with the ability to solve near impossible puzzles involving vignere ciphers, website source codes, and every other type of whatnot would come a degree of maturity that would allow us to avoid stupid sh*t like this.

Let me take this opportunity to call a ceasefire between those in opposition here. The Organization itself has said that it will take teamwork for us agents to get things done, and this behavior is about as far from teamwork as you can get.

As Bertram Russell once said, "The only quality that will redeem mankind is cooperation." I think we should all begin to acknowledge and appreciate the relevance of that now. We're getting nowhere in solving these puzzles, and I'd like to see that change.

So (and don't take this as a 'high-and-mighty' remark) each and every one of you: please grow up a little and let's tackle this ARG, rather than each other.

-Shane

Yes, I realize that sounded pretentious as f*ck, but I feel it needed to be said.

We all left that room long before you came to go to the another chat site. I didn't know people lingered. You can hardly blame me for their actions. Read the post right above yours.

That's a Shaun Of The Dead quote if I'm not mistaken? Smile

And I totally agree with you - the problem is I think the best course is not to fuel the fire by giving attention to the immaturity on display and instead not acknowledge it. It's just incredibly difficult to do when people insist on acting like kids in a playground.

How about this:

from this point forward, all posts on this thread should pertain directly to The Node. There are other Topics / Threads for this type of thing.

Done and done.

There's a new thread at the Mission Three forum page: http://forum.experiencethenode.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=32

which pretty much seems to be slapping us round the head for not getting it already. I feel like that guy in the Zodiac movie looking at this bleedin' code.

Plus, I bet they're laughing their asses off now, after all that 'this is SO easy!' crap people gave them about the first two missions. I know I would be.

So, I'm assuming I am wrong in my assumption that we just...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Add this guy on Facebook and then type "facebook" on the bit where it asks where he can be found?

Because I did that and

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
was told someone would be in contact shortly...

You are right with all of that. But once you friended Richard on facebook he will send you a message via facebook with a code. And now thats what we are trying to solve.

Well he hasn't exactly accepted me so I can't help there but if everyone got the same code. I've been checking it and if it's vig, I'm stumped cos I've tried all kinds of keywords.

Anychance his profile will give a clue to the Vig key?

Edit: Oh and btw, at the risk of flaming up another argument which I apologise if I do... As is probably known anyway there are some fonts out there which make lower case letters look like smaller caps; so instead of arguing about it maybe we should look into both possibilities?

Just a thought Smile

Personally, I think that it's too much of a regular pattern to be anything other than pairs. If it were a straight up encryption of something else (for instance a password hash, vigenere, etc) it would result in a more random collection of symbols for the most part. Is it possible that it would end up regular? Sure. Do I think it likely? No.

Anyway, I think we need to look at the result to find the method. What are we trying to resolve the code to? Is it a URL, an E-mail, a password? personally, I lean toward password, but then password to what? Basically, Ok, we decode it, then what?

That might help us figure out HOW to decode it.

[EDIT] ...

Leyton Stone: he didnt accept anybody yet but he sens you a message anyway. But heres the code
E3c7A5c2A1e5c8a1e1a5A3e4a1E6a5E1e9e6C3e1
And its been put in another perspective from the picture of Richard on facebook.

On another note , I've posted this in the node forum too but putting it here in case some people aren,t going there:

Yesterday was saying that maybe the lower and Upper case were important and I agree with that. Maybe they can be changed into numbers and a lower A would not be the same as a upper A . But I can't see what numbers yet

So Maybe : a=1 A=2 c=3 C=4 e=5 E=6 (or something like it)

So we would have 8 string of numbers:
62515 (Buffalo, IL)
31119 (Atlanta, GA)
35165 (non existing zip code)
75566 (Marietta, TX)
13124 (North Pitcha, NY)
58353 (Mylo, ND)
31565 (Waverly, GA)
21411 (Annapolis, MB)

EDIT: Well I looked up the zip codes for that in case it could be it (following natas idea yesterday) and the 3rd one doesnt exist...but my numbers could be wrong. Hope this can help ..even if its just to eliminate this .

I also tried inversing it...A=1 a=2 ...ect..nothing there too
