Second line looks like "Gold schlägt Geld" to me - which would be "gold beats money" in English.

I'd say that's much better. Interestingly enough, there looks to be a book of that title by one Paul C. Martin on gold and mining I believe:

I told JF I couldn't pick up the package he wanted to leave for me, so he's put it on a website instead: http://drop.io/sneakyness. The password is surerrisk; the file is a recorded conversation between MR Forsythe and Tony Blatchford, one of the Surer Risk trustees.

JF has also been urging me to ask Dan for a name found in the cache, which he reluctantly gave me: Caspar Ebersbach.

That name uses up pretty much all of the letters that were written on the bills in the cache. Missing an 'a' and have an extra 'e', so my guess is a mistake in either spelling the name or in the letters found. Did DC mention where the name was written in the cache, or did he figure it out from the hidden letters? That also still leave the '49' written on the Queenie.

New Corrigan post as well:

ETA2 - trying to get the ball rolling on the IG forum again, so I'm going to repost some of this there in the clues section. I'm only posting the stuff I received, so if anybody wants to post theirs as well - I'm looking at you veryreverend - then maybe we can get some of this discussion gonig again in the open and not just in PMs.

Can I trust you?

Are you in Texas?

Can you help find this book: "Paul Martin, Gold Schlägt Geld"?

I believe it is the key to a hidden cache.

It is located here: +30.275 -98.870

Please help me...

Unfortunately that's about an hour and a half from me and I'm crazy busy this summer, but if any other Texans want to take a day trip to Fredericksburg, it's a pretty little town with German food and good shopping.

It's barely possible I might be able to make it this weekend, but that would take a lot of finagling.

MrT and Zaranai are both in TX, I believe, but I don't think either are any closer.

ETA - Zii is in DFW, MrT in College Station, so T would be closer, but still hours away.

Nothing's close to F'burg. Wink

I find that's true of most things in Texas, at least when I need them to be close. Smile

ETA - looks like the corner of N Llano and E Austin:

I let The Fan know that we're currently contending with three different day camps, but I'd try to go out there if we got an opportunity. Here's the response:

Quote:
Hello D,

Thank you for answering my cryptic call for help. Call me paranoid, but it is hard to reach out to someone on the other side of the Atlantic.

Here is what know, Dan Corrigan believes this is the second part of the cache he found in France. Snow White mentioned that it may have something of value, while Surer Risk thinks it has something to do with agents / assassins shedding identity as they move from country to country. One thing is almost certain - someone does not want it found.

Personally I hope someone gets to it before Surer Risk realise what we are trying to do. It sounds like a book, and should be in a bookshop or library near the location. James Forsythe of Surer Risk said there was a key, Dan suggested it was Caspar Ebersbach, a name he found on an envelope in the French find, and also spelt out in UV ink on old banknotes that were also in the cache.

If it is a book, there will be something concealed in it. This is all the information I have at the moment. Dan is in Hamburg, trying to find some artifacts stolen from Replay.

Once again, thank you, and my warmest to your 'little one's'

The Fan

I'd have to say that my chances of making it out there are slim, so if anyone at all has a chance to make it, please go for it. I certainly don't claim dibs on the deaddrop!

I searched extensively earlier for the book online and came up with very little. Google is a little more forthcoming now for some reason. Should someone be able to go after it, this is hopefully what the book looks like.

Amazon Link

ETA - looks to be a library a block or so over from the coordinates:

And a book store

plus several antique stores.

For code’s sake

I have no idea who sent me this cute message in a cute anonymous email but I'm guessing it's one of you lot. I don't have time to mess around playing WWII reindeer games right now. If you have to email me, please do it in plain text. Or better, learn to use a phone. Meanwhile, if someone can be bothered to decode it, knock yourself out. I'm busy.

Sorry folks - there's no way I can make it either this weekend or the next. It sure is a pretty drive for those of you who are thinking about going.

Sleep of Reason on the IG forum jiggled my head enough to finally figure out the anonymous message. Columnar transposition with CORRIGAN as the key.

HAVE TRESPASSED IN DARK SIDE ARCHIVES REYR FRENCH FIND AGENT WAS EN ROUTE TO FBURG TO PICK UP NEW IDENTITY AS IN FRANCE UNUSED CACHE WAS NEVER DEACTIVATED MAY CONTAIN GEN OF HIGH VALUE IMPERATIVE YOU FIND IT NO FURTHER MSGS MORE THAN MY JOB IS AT RISK JOCK

Whew! Now it's just the simple matter of retrieving the cache in Fredericksburg. Rolling Eyes
