Personally, I think that it's too much of a regular pattern to be anything other than pairs. If it were a straight up encryption of something else (for instance a password hash, vigenere, etc) it would result in a more random collection of symbols for the most part. Is it possible that it would end up regular? Sure. Do I think it likely? No.

Anyway, I think we need to look at the result to find the method. What are we trying to resolve the code to? Is it a URL, an E-mail, a password? personally, I lean toward password, but then password to what? Basically, Ok, we decode it, then what?
That might help us figure out HOW to decode it.

Yesterday,I too believed that it was Hex pairs in reverse. Those and each subsequent letter or number substitution failed to provide any text at all. Also, all my attempts failed to provide a Youtube extension in Base64 which is where I was leaning.

Took another joyless tack just before and after Richard's pic changed which is more than likely a hint. Rolling Eyes

IllustratedMan, If you are leaning towards a p/w keep at it and welcome to uF.

Hex in reverse was exactly my first thought. I've since tried all sorts of things. IP, md5, sha1, etc. Now I'm trying to find some output that resembles ours to maybe give us an idea of what process to use. The arrangement on the avatar could very well be a hint, but to what?

i wrote to Netflyte since I was stumped on this. Here's is asnwer to me..I think this can maybe help:

Hi Makyla,

I understand the feeling of frustration that some agents may be feeling, and believe me, The Organization is also hard at work trying to decipher this code.

One of the agents has summed up what our analysts also believe: That of all solutions, the simplest one is likely the best. To that end I would focus more on the composition of the message and less on the theory that it may be a key.

Good luck!

I like this idea and Luna's.

I also like the idea that there isn't a solution that can be found yet because they are just screwing with us and don't have their act together yet.

Have not rec'd the actual message

Can someone post the message they rec'd exactly as it was presented? Unfortunately I did not receive the actual message yet and I am still working off of the code on the pic. Since I am at work I cannot access facebook to see if it has been sent to me yet.

Overlay

Has anyone tried overlaying the loyalty.pdf with the pic including the code? Those points could indicate which letters & numbers are relevant... Too bad I am at work...no graphic editing apps Sad

Sorry for double...I posted this on the other forum too...

Hey Inkstain, somebody did that in the chatrooms last night, but they said they couldn't make anything out of it. Also, someone in the IG forums is also discussing this possibility. I say, go for it! Maybe you can see something that others didn't.

We had this exact same notation in Findings Cedar Rapids, which turned out to be a song by Dave Matthews Band . I can't remember the website we went to to input the guitar tableture to figure that out, though. I'll try shooting off some PM's to see if anybody remembers.

"Persistence" is key.
"Loyalty" is key.

I don't want to beat a dead horse, but I did notice that the solution to our LAST mission was Amusement Device ...

Carrying on with that train of thought, is the formatting for network names and/or keys different for things such as XBox 360 or PS3 or Wii's? Afterall this was found in a video game magazine and I think at one point we did see a game console.

It all makes sense to me .. but then I am Insane Smile
