I've searched for everything that occured in 1933 (mostly Nazi Germany stuff) to no avail.

I don't know who the hell that is.

Maybe it's the turtle neck shirt, but I get a writer or director vibe for the old guy.

Tried going at it from a 1933 architecture perspective... again.

The only two that seemed even close are:
Ludwig Mies van der Rohe
(Director of the Bauhaus, when it closed)

and

Sir Richard Rogers, who was born in 1933.

Their features change a lot over time, so it's hard to tell if it's anything, but I thought maybe more eyes could look.

Actor, writer, U-Boat skipper...

GUY

The guy looks worried - his brow is wrinkled.

I did put the question on yahoo answers - maybe in the wrong category as have no answers yet. If I don't get any answers, I'll try a different category.

I added another one under entertainment/online games

Someone suggested to look up 1933 births so here is the link if someone wants to check out all the people. I will try too.

Edit: There is a French group working on it and one of them mention the places are in connection with a film. Scroll down to the last entry:

To be honest it DOES look like it's out of a film; it's too crisp to be an era photo.

*EDIT*
My browser forgot all my results; I'm back to zero. GAH!!!

The director angle was my first shot when I started :p I tried everyone I thought it could possibly be. Tried some actors too...definitely looks like someone in the arts to me. AND he looks familiar.

I don't have facebook so don't know what is on the page. Is it possible to e-mail and ask for another clue?

#10
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
#10
Kagi, North Malé Atoll, Republic of the Maldives

4.6770 Lat
73.5012 Long

I was looking at the hints page: http://www.geopikzz.com/hints.php

Notice how they are grouped by set/ hint type. Also seems that there were originally 100 pics and not just 49. Shocked

The "Abs Sum" hint was grouped with the geoglyph / ground feature pic hints (still don't know why their hint is ">10" though Confused ).

The set of clocks hints is grouped with the binary hint. The clocks were originally numbered 1, 10, 91, 100; so still at the corners of the square. Makes that N shape seem important.

The artist grave sites are grouped with the hint for #20. And #42, our 1933 mystery man, seems to be grouped with the prison transfers.

Code:

Clocks
01 hint[1] = "185583";
07 hint[10] = "191781";
43 hint[91] = "630357";
49 hint[100] = "241272";
31 hint[45] = "101011
               000001
               110001
               000111"

Artist Graves
15 hint[74] = "269";
13 hint[24] = "349";
36 hint[59] = "265";
27 hint[8] = "353";
20 hint[56] = "1000
               510
               278
               115
               84"

Prisoner Transfer
42 hint[5] = "1933";
32 hint[6] = "Sept. 1687";
45 hint[13] = "Aug. 1934";

I didn't know a browser would hold them until we already had 42 done. I was re-entering them every time I logged on. Have since done the page with spouse's browser which seems to be holding the info for now.

Hint for #10 is "Lat = Abs Sum / 36.2203; Lng = Abs Sum / 4.7845"
On the hints page it is grouped with the geoglyph/ ground feature set.

So using the latitudes and longitudes from that set in the hint:
Lat = (31.988732 + 31.660881 + 51.3725697 + 45.291) / 36.2203 = 4.426059
Lng = (152.571811 + 106.588122 + 1.847834 + 90.514) / 4.7845 = 73.470951

4.426059N, 73.470951E is right in the middle of the ring of islands of the North Malé Atoll in the Maldives. Started looking at islands to find a match.

Don't know if anybody's still following this one...
But I did a page that shows all the entries on the hints page.
There is a table with our 49 pikzz, a 2nd set of 10 hints where they were named in the file (4 don't have an actual "hint", however) and a list of unused hints.

Hoping it'll spark something.

When I see the "Lake K" references, I'm reminded of Lake Konstanz (Bodensee) in Germany. But it doesn't seem to be the lake from any of the additional clues.

On #42, somone has suggested to me that he look a whole like like Henry Hill, the mobster turned witness that the movie Goodfellas was made about. However he was born in 1943 so I don't know how 1933 would apply to him. Nor can I track down that specific photo, so my guess would be that it probably isn't him. However, he looks similar enough that perhaps Henry Hill is why some people are thinking he looks familiar?

Re: # 31

the binary numbers in the hint corresponds to the following decimals:

101011 = 43
000001 = 1
110001 = 49
000111 = 7

So 43.1, 49.7 comes out to be somewhere in the Caspian Sea...if the binary to decimal conversation assumption is correct, we need to find something in the Caspian Sea...

Edit: Nvm, found it.

43, 1, 49, 7 forms the edges of a square...and if we traverse from the first point to the last, an N shape is made...see if they can help in any way

*EDIT* the time in the clocks may well be a clue...i donno much abt astronomical clocks...does anyone?

Since none of the hints in the already (comparatively) easy to figure out clock pictures have been found to have any relation to the clocks, perhaps their hints solve #31 somehow? It's just a little suspiscious that they all have the same number of characters. Maybe some type of numeric Caesar Square?

Code:
43   630357
1    185583
49   241272
7    191781

EDIT: So as not to post again. There are 16 pictures that are probably left over from when the puzzle had 100 instead of 49. Anyone interested can take a look at what we almost had to solve (or might have to solve in the future?). So there are 65 total, the last clock being designated 100, thus having 35 dead links inbetween there.

#42 looks like an older version of Captain Nikolai Zateev, captain of K-19. I can't find anything about where he was in 1933 though...

could # 20 be an island that is sinking? Like, the sea used to be 1000m away from the house, now it's only 54m away? Can't remember where the islands are that are sinking really fast though...

Not much help, sorry!
