i actually don't know shit about kataklysm. just got their newest cd, and so far i'm liking it, but other than that i've never heard anything else yet.

chimaira's great live. they happened to open for a ton of bands i've seen so i've probably seen them 4 or 5 times. not in about 3 years though so it'll be interesting to see what's new. they always put on a good show and pick the right songs to get the crowd goin.

MSI is... they don't really have a style of music. it's definitely not metal. I think on their wikipedia they call their genre Industrial Jungle Pussy Punk. haha. whatever the fuck that means. it's like bizarre industrial dance rock, with nintendo type keyboards, occasionally great heavy riffs and a crazy fuckin singer who tries to do everything he can with a mircophone. most of the time it ends up being really catchy, but the fun of it is how ridiculous the song structures are. my complaint with the new album is it feels really watered down. the one band i thought would never cater to the mainstream, and that's what the new record sounds like. my friends all agree that we're all very underwhelmed with it. it's not horrible, but nowhere near as creative or fun as usual. and there's a lot of gay/sex innuendo in their stuff. by the looks of the band i'd say they'd all fuck anything. and on their dvd after the show the singer, literally, makes out with the entire front row of the crowd. it's the dirtiest shit i've ever seen. haha.

anyways, i've never seen them yet, so this should be memorable. hahah. if you wanna check em out the records i'd look for are 'Tight', 'Frankenstein Girls Will Seem Strangely Sexy', or 'You'll Rebel to Anything'. Avoid the new one 'If', cause it's not really a good indication of what they normally sound like.

I'd dip your toe in the water before going ahead and downloading all their shit.

If you can, just check out 'Bring the Pain' from Tight. That's a good indication of how awesome they can be. It's a weird tune cause it feels heavy, but it's definitely not metal.

Ya, I never visit on weekends. I'd say I'm too busy but I managed to watch all 3 Indiana Jones between yesterday and this morning before work. haha. Good lazy morning movies, still haven't seen the new one, can't convince my girlfriend that it MIGHT be good. Especially since we both hate that Transformers kid.

The new one is...myeh. I didn't mind shia, i actually liked him. As stated in another thread, i thought the dialigoue was great, the action was great, the character interraction was great, the nostalgic moments were great, but the story.....was absolutely terrible. Sunk the movie imho.
Still better the Temple of Doom.

Ya, after watching temple of doom again i understand people's gripes. i could never figure out why everyone thought it was the worst, but it get it now. i think the main problem is they stay in the same goddamn place for the whole movie. they don't really adventure anywhere. plus that blonde bitch is INCREDIBLY annoying. i like short round though. as weird of a character choice as he is, i still like him.

Not a bad movie though. I like em like I like my Die Hard's. Number 1 is number 1, 3 is second best, then 2.

Listening to: SikTh - Hold My Finger

I know we are talking about music, but i must comment on the short sidetrack we got on movies.
I saw the happening last night...what an epic fail. If i ever get the chance to punch shyamamamamamalan in the throat repeatedly, i am gladly going to take that opportunity.

Currently listening to: System of a Down - A.D.D.

Shamalam has yet to make a good movie. I can't believe people still produce his ideas. People argue that The Sixth Sense was good, but I disagree. You can only watch it once. The second time you watch it, when you know Bruce is dead, it is fucking boring. If you see Shamalam give him one in the throat for me too.

I liked signs. I will admit that. But every other movie he's made has just irritated me. Why i continue to put money into his pocket is beyond me.

I'll give him 2 for you. Just because you hated sixth sense. I thought i was the only one.

Just to further derail the music convo...

Shyamalan HAS definitely made some good movies. Sixth Sense was great (even if it's not very rewatchable) but it was obviously over-hyped, I liked Unbreakable much more, Signs had good ideas but the ending kinda blew it, I liked the Village even if no one else did, and Lady in the Water was completely fucked, not great, but interesting.

I stand by Unbreakable as a great movie. Got a bootleg of the Happening just cause I know someon will ruin the ending before i bother to see it. So I may check it out tonight to see how terrible it is.

The guy's not a genius as he was built up to be with his first 2 movies, but he can direct VERY well. Writing is his problem, and he should start leaving that to someone else.

Listening to: Porcupine Tree - Lightbulb Sun
