[SPEC] New dimension of coordinates

I'm new to all this, so be gentle.

Do you think it's worth looking into the altitudes of the coordinates?

We live in a 3-D space, and they provided 2 dimensions (the coordinates), so maybe there's something to learn from the 3rd (altitude)?

Ask and ye shall receive. Last night AnthraX101, Yanka and I put this together, with all the real work done by AnthraX101, who wrote a script to do it in an automated fashion. The elevation values are in meters, drawn from the NED (National Elevation Dataset), using this handy tool that allows you to query several of the USGS' Seamless Elevation data sets with coordinates.

wasn't there a puzzle in the beast that required you to view an elevation map from the side to spell a word?

I wasn't involved in The Beast, spo I wouldn't know offhand. However, this could be a possibility here.

Anyone willing to give it a shot?

If this turns out to be a new and "improved" iteration of Founder I am leaving. I can't go through that again.

tried it a bit

I tried columns from the elevation spreadsheet in this program:
www.romanlab.com/3dg/

I haven't really accuracy or sanity checked it, so it could be off. Also, I tried graphing the two colums, one in each color, but what I really want to graph is a line connecting Row X Col 1 with Row X Col 2. I haven't figured out how to do that with this program, so I might need to write something up myself tonight.

Anyhow, I doubt my file is useful at all, but I've attached it in case.

Damn, had to do something else tonight.

Has anyone mapped (2D or 3D) the pairs to each other? Like just one line per pair, and no lines connecting between rows? I could sworn someone did it 2D, but I can't find that post.

Anyhow, I'll try to get a 3D version up tomorrow....
