What I dont understand is going 1 north and 2 south on any map will mean you are going 1 south, and trying to follow those instructions on the tubemap is extremely confusing and doesnt really work.

Unless going 1 north gets you to a junction where you could go 2 south down another route.......
....but it doesn't in this case. Sad

why didnt i think of that? it was the " of a different empire" that keeps throwing me off which now makes sense as being a church? maybe....
but what about the other numbers on the list?

Well I came so close to thinking I had a breakthrough...
The top 5 locations are all streets in london, which would have been ideal.
Except the last 3 arent. Pentham Maxley and Godstall just dont exist in London.

I mapped out the other 5 on google maps, take a look and tell me if you can get a location from it:
EDIT= REMAPPED IN NUMERICAL ORDER AS PROVIDED BY THE RABBIT.
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=&saddr=Chenies+Street&daddr=Mepham+Street+to:Uxbridge+Street+to:Craven+Street+to:Brooke+Street&mra=pi&mrcr=3&sll=51.51093,-0.154375&sspn=0.044658,0.150375&ie=UTF8&z=13

It all seemed to be going so well... but unless the last 3 arent meant to be road names im a bit stuck.

On closer inspection all 5 locations are reasonably near tube stops:

Uxbridge= Notting Hill Gate
Chenies= Goodge Street
Brooke= Chancery Lane
Mepham= Waterloo
Craven= Charing Cross

However, none are exactly on the same road as a tube station, so it would be bit odd to reference a street randomly nearby.

Well, after looking at the list of stations, they all seem fairly close to Tottenham Court Road (The St. Giles Circus station), but I cant make a definite link!

Edit: and heres a thought,

Theres a famous Rabbit called Peter.

your thoughts had me intrigued so i genned up on the subject on the site

was a benedictine monestary in honour of st werburgh but it was rebuilt in

1283 by the normans so cave of a different empire yes this could

qualify "Foily!"

Seing I was getting nowhere with this I wrote to Dirk.

Me to Dirk:
Quote:
Hey Dirk,

Just checking if you made any progress with that letter? We have made little progress on it and think it may lead to a place but we are kind of stuck to where to start. What have you found out on your side?
And good idea to wait before replying to him
Hope to hear from you soon
Makyla

His answer to me:
Quote:
All I can determine, by talking with others, is that the directions seem to relate to the tube map...not sure where the words/numbers relate to it though. Just got to keep looking I guess.
Dirk.

So not sure if this will help but sure hope so, so we can get to a next step or something.

EDIT: And do feel free to trout me if this as already been posted but i think it could be the London tube map:
http://images.intolondon.com/images/intolondon/transport-maps/london-underground-tube-map.gif
At the complete right of it on the red line theres 3 stations that have the word Hill in them. SO now next step would be to: look for the fun and games of Etruscan monarchs and seek Egidio

EDIT again: ok theres other station with the word Hill in them ..like plenty of them. So not sure yet which one are the good ones.

so....start at the tube station or the monestary? and then what? cigarman,golf you 2 are from there( suspiciously enough) you should know. Wink

when asked about the london tube or a church being the cave of a different empire.

Quote:
That is a distinct possibility, I agree.
Dirk.

when asked about the church at godstall

Quote:
No one else I have spoken to has mentioned Godstall name...though it is one of the names in the letter.
Dirk.

Who's to say it's the London Tube map we should be looking at? If it is, then TCR seems to be the logical starting place, but it gets us nowhere. If it isn't London, who knows?........
