Here is the text from around the ring:

quick attempt at translating
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The rings number 5 and one world joins through game to be itself a message. For the elected athletes is the honor to voyage. The world waited for the arrival with the olympiad. Before you return to your home you will (gain?) friends with every continent.

I wonder about gijnos in that last sentence - any letters missing?

Thanks Jasper for your first try. But I do not understand the meaning (yet). Perhaps the translation is not that "perfect" Wink

There has been so many excellent Esperanto translators around and translated the whole Codex in a very fast way. Have they all lost interest in this game? Where are you???

I am wondering if perhaps all the monitoring of online communication was James' responsibility, and if maybe it is safe to communicate online about this stuff now that James is on our side. James is the person behind the "membersoftheo" gmail address. James told us during his abduction that, as far as Markus' situation went, James was only given enough information "to feed you guys what I did" (i.e., the weird post on Markus' blog, which included a Bacon-ciphered message). And I think it was also James that commented something to the tune of, "C'mon, who did Markus think he was kidding, trying to hide by dying his hair, but posting about the whole thing on his blog?" In other words, it seems like any online monitoring or communication by TheO has been done through James. I wouldn't mind getting James' opinion on this.

Nice thinking. If I would be a PM I would take up this idea (if I had for example not thought about this) Smile
If James is the ONLY responsible person to check the online ressorces (blogs, forums, ...) we can start to post everything there withpout fearing Theo will get unwanted information.

I've sent James a Facebook message asking about this. Unfortunately I see he updated his Facebook status 44 minutes before I sent the message, and he didn't appear as online when I sent it, so he may have already finished doing his Facebook rounds today.

I'm not excellent, but I independently read the Esperanto, and I think jasper's translation is good.

I think it might sound a little weird or stilted because this is only a piece of a message that has to fit with 4 more pieces.

12 hours ago I wrote to Noriko, and she replied. I think this is her personal opinion, so please don't claim any responsibility from her. And I'm not going to start immediately describing the events in the forum. Rather I want to wait for some opinions here (or in a different thread?).

unagi wrote:
By the way, I have something to discuss with you. I think you know the five rings for the Lost Ring are already being discovered. I think we had better describe those events in the Forum, but I know they shouldn't be known by TheO, so I haven't describe them in the Forum. But I am worried that, with this situation, we won't be able to describe anything about looking for the Lost Ring so long, so I am thinking of writing in the Forum in some ways. How do you think about this sort of things? And have you heard how the other members of the Six, Kai or Mr. Hunt thinks about this sort of things?

Noriko wrote:
Well, I think you can write in the Forum even info which we don't want to let TheO know. Although not all the Six keep in touch with me, Ariadne and Kai also seem to think so.

Considering TheO's espionage network, they'll be able to investigate info they want to know even from sources other than the Forums of our Blogs, and I feel some info can't help being leaked. It seems they also know where we are ...

If we together seriously get going, they can't stop us even if some info is leaked, can they? Rather, I want to believe so ^^;

Another reply has come from Noriko.

According to Noriko/Mihoko, Alex proposed:
Quote:
use a "Fake" forum subject to prevent Theo from snooping around the
forums and finding it. All the allies should use the same fake subject.
For instance: "Learn Esperanto - 5 lost translation exercises!"

And Noriko/Mihoko exemplified more: "Esperanto Exercises!" for the first ring.
She says Eli seems to have given Alex this idea.

Best include something sounding incredibly boring like "grammar", "syntax", "prepositions" or "orthography" in the subject lines.

Haha! That is really funny Smile I like the idea of some TheO intern who's been assigned the grunt job of skimming the forums overlooking it because it sounds terribly boring.

holycrap The sheer levels of AWESOMENESS coming from Wellington are astounding. I cannot believe that there are actually immense rings for this XD.

But yeah. Now I REEEEEEEALLY want one in San Francisco, but I feel we got our chance with the James Mission D:

Just... to hold it... >.>

LOL @ the intern idea Laughing . I got a reply back from my Facebook message to James today:

Quote:
Hey pdreamerblue],

Thanks for your message. It was my responsibility to track the forums, and to my knowledge, no one else really was. So I think that it's certainly ok to discuss things on the forums. However, it's important to not brag about it (we still have another ring to find... maybe several...!)

Hope that helps.

-James

That ring is amazing! Great job.
The dots on the inscription, if not Braille, remind me of baudot code.
