Since Khaos and the Paris group prefer to plan in BIG dimensions, here's another Paris labyrinth proposal.

Tomorrow's the big day ! I've adapted the original design by Canzonett over the last week so it first the streets of Paris, charged up my camera and handycam, and am going to go print the directions for the labyrinth at school in a few hours - stopping at the store for supplies (water, bananas, sunblock) will also be a necessity !

The main problem for this labyrinth is I'll mostly be on my own during most of the ride. I know Eli and others mentioned it's important to be a band of many, but things turned out to be not so easy to schedule and people dropped out of the project as time would go bye. Still, I hope it'll be worth it and that it will help our friends get closer to their homeworlds !

Let me know if there's any advice you can give me re. walking the labyrinth, because I sure could use it ! Cheers.

Good luck with the Paris labyrinth! I'm sure you'll have fun, even though you'll be on your own. It's a new way of experiencing a city, one somehow feels connected to the "larger whole" all the time and imagines what the shining red line one "paints" on the map during the walk will look like.

Try to keep as close to the middle of streets resp. the street-side part of the pavement as possible.

Check the trackstick's signal regularly and try to get at least one green "beep" if it gets lost. When Falco and I did the innermost circuits in Munich's omphalabyrinth, we lost the signal when walking round the cathedral, which would have spoiled a really nice-looking bit of our labyrinth design altogether So we jumped around on the square before the cathedral for some minutes until we got a green beep again. We forgot to do the same some minutes later in the southern part of the inner circuits, and the result was not that pretty ...

Don't forget to take a lot of photos of the trackstick, yourself and Paris's sights! They will look gorgeous if taken in this wonderful weather (while it seemed to be raining constantly during our omphalabyrinth).

Thanks for all the good advice Canzonett ! I'm sure I'll need it.

I just finished printing my directions for the labyrinth, and all I need to do now is go shopping for train/subway combo ticket, bananas and nuts, water and sunblock Tomorrow's going to be an early day...But it'll totally be worth it, I believe. As you said, it's a completely different way to experience one's city.

my advice is not to hold the trackstick in your hand while you walk if you can help it- in my first test walking with it, the line looks fairly drunk and on subsequent tests I clipped it to my hat or my shoulder. the line was much cleaner that way.

And also to have lot of fun doing this!

I'll try to keep the fun part in mind ! I think I'll just clip the Trackstick to a strap of my backpack (but still in sight) so I don't have to worry about it all the time. Thanks for the pointers, Jasper.

Attempt on Friday failed, as Lemony Snickett would say, due to a "series of unfortunate events". Returning to Paris on Tuesday with a friend to (hopefully) make it throught this time ! For those really interested in seeing how things went on Friday, feel free to take a look.
