Will you folks cut it out with the arguing already. Quit looking for a fight under every rock you come across, or go find some other playground if you can't help yourselves.

geesh...what rabble. I'm gone for a few weeks and you all get in a tussle.

Anyway, to the haters:

1) Grayshot isn't a commercial game. It's a fan made mod for Half Life 2 that's going to be FREE (as in beer, for you Slashdotters). It's not like they're asking for your hard earned mowing money.

2) It was originally going to be a Cloverfield mod, but they had to ditch the idea because there might be an official game. So, they kept what they could (monster thrashes city, you're stuck in the middle) and are adding things that are different.

3) The guy masterminding it has been a Cloverfield fan from the beginning, on a level with Dennis of CloverfieldClues.

4) Taking 1,2,3 into account, claims of 'lousy ripoff' seem a bit harsh. It's more like an homage, which if you remember that's what Cloverfield was to begin with.

5) Yeah, the art in the viral was amatuerish. IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE. That was some dude having nasty dreams and drawing them down. *sigh* and you all say you understand fiction

It really looks like they're trying to do something cool, both with the mod and with putting a viral story to it. Yes, it's derivative of Cloverfield because that was the inspiration and original source material. However it looks like it's taking on a bit of a life of its own. Plus, it's done by a Cloverfield fan (one of us) and his friends at no cost to us when it's done...so that right there deserves some love.

In case any of you didn't get it, the argument is probably the only thing bumping this thread. Not that this is arguing. It's more like a big brother picking on the little brother, just to watch him squirm.
