Uh, I highly, highly doubt 42's made a deal with the US military to play along with this game. I would strongly advise to not randomly walk into a recruitment office if you don't want people staring and/or yelling at you.

Seconded. Bad, bad idea.

If the real US military was involved, they'd be extremely up front and "in your face" about it, believe me.

Im pretty sure it would be illegal to do that too. I mean, can you even enlist in the Army online?

Also, did anyone else notice that they dont have "Medical Issues" on the paper anymore but you can see in in the typewriter?

All of these comments make sense,(where these comments towards me or the person I was telling?) but people walk into recruiting offices randomly all the time to learn about it or enroll.
I don't think you can enlist online. You can contact a recruiter though.
Yeah I did see that. I don't think they need to know medical issues since that's between us and our doctors. So I think it was a good idea to take it off.
Not trying to defend anyone, but it's very improbable that the US army is involved.

Just some things to point out from the photograph in the black out page.

1. the third guy from the left seems to have a deformed arm/hand (or maybe it doesn't belong to him)

2. has anyone noticed the lights coming from behind them through the doorway?

just some things i noticed that could maybe get us thinking.

I was also pondering the name "Abraham" - in the Bible Abraham is the "father of all beleivers" in the New Testament context, and "father of all nations" in the Old Testament context.

Abraham was given a promise by God that he would have as many successors as the stars on the sky. If the codename should be interpreted this way, then, I think it is a reference to the virus.

Also, he was tested by God, and was asked to "sacrifice" his only son, Isaac, to test his faith in the promise given to him earlier. In the end he didn't need to sacrifice Isaac, as just when they got to the altar and Abraham was about to sacrifice Isaac, they found a lamb, which was used as a sacrifice, meaning God didn't want to have Isaac dead, and that Abraham had true faith in the promise of God.
This reference I find more probable, I have to think of "I have 19 hours to live" - Hale could be the Isaac, the person they are willing to "sacrifice" (or send on this mission alone) but beleive that won't die in the end. I think this could be connected to the injection that he might have gotten (do I get it right, that he is the one getting the injection?).

I was speculating along the same lines while I was reading through all this.

Good job guys! I'm pretty excited about this, actually. Though I'll admit it, I hope they don't have a whole lot of updates for a while, here. I'm going to be working a whole hell of a lot for a while and I don't really need to have another distraction. hahaha. Smile

There could be many updates because of E3 and we could get some clues or there might not be clues because of E3. With this you really can't tell because, at least I don't think, Insomniac has ever done this for one of their games.

HI All...So I plugged the wiki on the first post but have not had a chance to go through the thread since Thursday. Hopefully I will have some downtime to read and then I will try to update the first post. PM me with anything you think is vital and I will try to add it.

First: @42: I saw the Cloverfiendish photo page, and after running away screaming, I have returned.

Second: This is going to be HUGE. I extend gratitude to the crew at 42 in advance. In b4 game over.

Third: Following. Any IRC set up yet? #resistance. Duh.

Yeah, that didn't go over well. Wink

e3 coverage

I like the idea that at E3 next week, we will probably see a "real" recruiting unit that hands out flyers/merch with new clues on it.

Is anyone going to E3 who can look for this and take pictures? I can totally see this happening (remember the Joker bills at Comic Con???).

E3 is pretty much invite only now and very small compared to what it used to be. I was at the last real E3 two years ago when they had over 400 exhibitors. Last year it was 33, and this year it is something like 38. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's essentially just the game companies, publishers and select press that can attend now. So, highly unlikely that they would use E3 directly as a recruiting site, and unless someone here has a pass we'll have to hold out for the press to see what Sony and Insomniac show for the game. Anything planned for directly interacting with the public would more likely be at something like PAX next month or E for All in October.

This E3 is a bit of a return to form I suppose. They're back at the LA Convention Center anyway. They would have the blog attentions anyway. They could always leave us a clue during the press conference or something that is widely accessible.

This is all true, but I don't imagine there'd be nothing that comes from E3 if the game has any kind of presence there - with all the press coverage I'd be shocked if a new breadcrumb didn't spin out of it.

Sorry, I'm not saying that we won't get anything related to this via E3. I was saying that I doubt they have military recruiters in full gear handing out swag and signing people up on site. Two years ago that is almost assuredly what would have been done. Something hidden in promo videos or the like, sure. And remember that GamePro hinted that they will have something on their site as well.

I was at E3 in 2000 and 2001. It's going to take a lot to get back to that level of glory.

I wish I had the pics on my server from that... Things like photos of me with the Playmate of the Year, two other playmates, and pole dancing nuns (yes, you read that correctly). And id Software had five rather buxom blondes dressed in low cut fatigues to promote Return to Castle Wolfenstein. Shocked

E3 was kind of invite only anyway; if you're early enough and with an "in the industry" company you can get free passes, but otherwise it was never really open to the general public. Especially considering the ticket price in 2000 was over $200 per person.

I think the venue of choice now for video games is GDC.
