ctw site archive

as many people in the #ctw irc chat channel know, i've been trying my best to archive in-game sites. i figured i'd post here to let everyone know. the archives are up at

http://mopi.org/ctw/

sites archived are named by location, then by date, then by number (if more than one snapshot is taken in a single day because the site changed twice). so

http://mopi.org/ctw/aglauranj.org/www.aglauranj.org-2003.03.17-2/

would be the snapshot of aglauranj.org taken on march 17, 2003, and would be the second snapshot taken that day.

other things of interest may just be placed in the main directory and not in one of the named directories.

it's something of a hassle to archive them so far, so i only do so when i become aware that they've changed. as yet, it's done by hand. if i find a way to automate it, i may take more frequent snapshots. if you see anything missing, please let me know.

hopefully i won't get enough traffic to destroy my server. Wink

Wget

I'm not familiar with superbot mentioned above, but have done tons of archiving / mirroring with a GNU tool called wget It's available for various flavors of unix/linux as well as Win32.

thanks for the suggestions. actually i'm already using wget. Smile the non-automated part is having to grab all the different sites and the pages that aren't linked off of any other pages (synthasia email, gwg personal effects, etc.) this is done off a unix server and superbot is windows, so that wouldn't work... thanks though Smile
