[UPDATE] Dana's Blog

Dana has posted a new message to her weblog this morning, called "Olly Olly Axon Free."

(A cursory glance at today's new topics doesn't show anyone else noticing this yet, but, just in case, I prefer my trout in a nice lemon-caper sauce, thank you.)

w00t! She references Mister Donut! One of my favorite places to eat on Earth. I didn't know they were in Shanghai though. I only have expereience with them in Japan.

For the conspiracy theorists Locations of Mr. Donuts in Shanghai. <evil grin>

Ok, so I've "interactively" checked out most of the Yu Yuan Gardens, here. I've looked all over, and cannot find where she would have been able to walk on grass... it's all cement walkways, ponds, and small gathering areas... how is this possible? I mean, by looking here, I'd get the impression that you'd be silly NOT to think you could get arrested for walking on any plant here, since it's all away from walkways... (unless we are to determine that she's really not there, but is giving the opinion that she is there?) but she did get the Mr. Donut location right... hmmm... (I'm sure this is not really a puzzle, but I think it is interesting enough to comment on...)

Maybe that ties in with this quote, saying things aren't always as they appear.
Quote:
Error compounded: I was so flustered from the police encounter that I accidentally ordered two sugary meat puffs for lunch at the Mister Donut on Nanjing Xilu. (I thought they were chocolate creme-filled!) Lesson learned: Looks can be deceiving here, even when dealing with something as simple as the donut.

Is Dana trying to talk in code, since her blog may be monitored?

Bellebet, that's what I'm thinking... that it's gotta be one of three things then:

(1) the PMs made another "point in the sea" mistake in writing about something they didn't know enough to properly write about.
(I doubt coming off the recent one, that they'd do that, though...)

(2) Dana isn't really in China, and she's making it up.
(But then, she would have gotten her info on places online too and wouldn't have made that mistake)

(3) She's telling us something, (that maybe while in China, she's not really in Shanghai, perhaps? That we're supposed to pick up on that subtle clue that says, I know about Mr. Donut and its locations... I have been here, but not now? I don't know...)

You could potentially walk on the grass/groundcover here.

"Olly Olly Axon Free" is the Spartan's "all clear" signal.

I think one thing you're discounting is the off trails at this garden. For example you don't see the back end sheds where they keep their garden hoses and pruning clippers.

For example, any interactive tour of the Shukkeien Garden in Hiroshima would probably show you what you see in the picture in the URL; however, there are little back paths that are less attractive with hidden sheds or street and apartment building backdrops.
