I'd call it a viral marketing campaign, and not much else. But an interesting one nonetheless.

if this was an ARG, it was my first and alot of fun, especially for like the first 4 months were no one knew anything.

but thats just it, we have always been looking for "clues" to the next "piece", when the truth is we just got caught in the middle of advertising that was so cool we wanted it to be a game. it resembled a game, but its like all the pieces were from a different puzzle. i feel like the advertising will continue at some point, but for the ARG to be dead it had to have existed in the first place.

either that or it was very poorly thought out, ya cheese-eatin surrender monkeys.

oh yeah, remember the hammer on the slusho site? in cloverfield wasn't it operation:hammer-down? maybe they werent so sloppy...

Agreed, i think the ARG has given us everything we need to know to know the story. But since we arnet getting it they are trying to make up more stuff to piece the story together much easier without telling us too much. i think it will start back at like september or octobor

Definitions are hard!! Let's go shopping!

I must say, I keep seeing people who joined after July 2007's debut of the trailer crying and fussing about how 'Cloverfield is not an ARG' and here I see a VERY old hand at this making a point - stop getting stuck on a label.

This was chaotic fiction. It was a mystery where we were gathering the pieces to figure out the whole story. The bit of information were the 'clues' and sorting them out into a storyline was the 'puzzle'. Assembling the story was the 'game'. Happy? No? Fine, I never cared anyway. Twisted Evil

The fact is, whatever you wish to call it, this experience in alternate reality based chaotic fiction is over, dead, done. Please dispose of your trash on the way out, turn off the lights, and shut the door. It was fun and I look forward to seeing you on the next whatever-you-want-to-call-it when it comes around. Please feel free to visit some of the other attractions here at unFiction and always remember:

It takes 14 seconds out of my day to check cloverfieldclues.com. That's a mere 0.016% of my day.

It really doesn't hurt to check, even if we get nothing.

Considering that they made us wait for AGES before letting the sword logo pop up around the internet, I don't think its too far-fetched to think that they enjoy watching us cuss to one another...

Most of our questions are slowly being answered. Most people are anticipating one HUGE, final piece of the puzzle to come along and reveal all... but I'm quite happy getting little bits at a time.

The things I now know (that I really, REALLY wanted to know):
- What the LSA looks like
- Where all of the characters fit in
- That Ganu Yoshida is on the run
- Kaitei no Mitsu is, indeed, a suspicious substance directly related to Case designate: Cloverfield
- It was, indeed, our LSA that tore down Chuai
- That Teddy Hansson once worked for Tagruato and was definitely part of TIDO Wave
- What Teddy Hanssen looks like
- That LSA can eat whole horses

Be patient and more is sure to be revealed.

Well said! This was my first time taking part in this kind of experience and I have to say I had a blast. Would I have liked to get more solid answers? Sure! But that's what makes me come back for more (and hope for it to continue). I always kept hoping that we would receive an anonymous video or something of the kind explaining everything in crystal clear details, but I'm not losing hope. And I'm not ready to give up on a sequel yet, though. One can always dream... Rolling Eyes

Cloverfield was the shit. Simple as that. we had an awesome time playing the game, and im sure they had an awesome time making us go friggin insane trying to find stuff on the web. If they aren't done yet, thats awesome, and ill be checkin back every once in a while to see if anything new has surfaced. If, however, they ARE done playing the game with us, then lets just leave the Cloverfield Archives with some dignity, and actually leave ourselves some cool ass threads to look back on n read when we get nostalgic. I dont wanna come back in a couple months, open up the archives, and smack myself in the forehead cuzza the mass quantities of threads put up about how pissed we are. There are already like 30 of those up anyways, so post your distaste for the current situation in one of those Smile

At any rate, i just wanned to post right quick and let you guys know i didnt disappear, i just dont know what other good ARG to get involved in. till then, ill just come back around every once in a while to see how things are, and to see if anything new has surfaced, however unlikely that may be at this moment.

You guys all kick ass, and if this thing doesn't pick back up, ill miss you all dearly.

This was my first ARG. I knew about the Lost Experience, and the Dark Knight ARG, but didn't follow along. I am speculating here, but I imagine that the first trailer played before Transformers brought a lot of people to their first ARG. If it is dead, which I imagine it is, it was a lot of fun.
Was this anyone else's first?

Yup, i don't buy into this stuff normally. But I came apon a lot of free time on a comp at work and... he i am still.

Why though, WHY, would the teddy and underwater pictures be released for nothing? I think these guys got caught up in the momentum of the ARG fanbase and didn't have shit to back that up. I dunno. Maybe they consider those some sort of closure, rather than clues to something new. Thoughts?
