long wait

well it looks like we have a long wait ahead of us judging by how slow members have been added so far. I wish there was a way to publicize it more. Make sure EVERYONE knows about it. I've seen little postings here and there if you google search "goldenkeyquest" as one work, but nothing on any hight traffic sites.

zzzzzzz.... golden snore quest is more like it

The game ends Dec. 31 2010, but what they forgot to mention is that it doesn't start till Dec 1 2010...Smile

So lets start recruiting

I have like 4 people that I gave the puzzle too a while back but once they solved it they didn't send in their name since they had never really done anything like this before. At the time I didn't really care, but now I realize that it doesn't really matter if they really WANT to play or not. We just need them to send in the email. Hopefully they'll get hooked as the game unfolds a little but if not then no harm no foul. So just tell a bunch of your friends about it and if they want to try to solve the puzzle (as my friends did) then let them, but if not then tell them to just send in an email, and maybe if it gets cooler they'll wanna join in. From my experience, most people enjoy a good mystery and a tough puzzle to solve, so let them know about it.

Golden Key Quest
Superman Cartoon

I too am waiting for the main site to trigger and am #35. Has anyone made anything out of the Superman Cartoon that we are told to watch? I see we can zoom in while watching maybe there are hidden words?

It's a bird

I've watched the cartoon and analyzed it, but I'm pretty sure it's something that will only gain relevance in the coming stages of the game. It pretty much says so on the page. So I think it's something that you're supposed to know, and then when the time comes you'll know what to do with it.

GKQ
another code?

Key note: Treasure hunting is not new. Internet treasure hunting is not new. The Golden Key idea itself goes back certainly as far as the story of the same name by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm of fairytale fame.
Online there are many Golden Key hunts in various guises to which this quest bears no relation.
This is not a search for a key. This is a Quest. You have the Key from the start. You will need it to navigate your way around the net. Nor do you have to pay to play. And the game, while similar to much, is second to none. Find the Key, unlock the code and come and join us. The Key will show you the way.

This seems to me like it is telling us that there is another code to solve?
What do you think?

The key

I don't know if there is something we're supposed to find RIGHT NOW. I think maybe the video is going to end up being more of a guide. So once the main site opens up there will be more clues and the video will be almost a map, so when you compare the two you get an answer. I don't think it's possible for there to be any more clues right now when there are only 100 or so people playing and they want 1000 just to open the main site. They wouldn't make it that easy to start on the quest ESPECIALLY since we know the game is going to last till 2010. I'm pretty sure this is going to be one of those drawn out games. It also says the game is played in three month quarters, so as I've said before, the next quarter will begin August 1st; at which time I predict we will get more clues or at least SOMETHING major might happen. You're not wrong in ispecting the video, as it is DEFINITELY going to have a lot to do with the game in the months to come, but as I said, I think it's something that we'll begin seeing related to the game as it goes on.
Oh yeah I found this last month,

Hi everyone; I am really new to this whole ARG thing; got hooked on "the quest" and someone reccomended this to me... I have basically no experience with ciphers, codes, etc... but am willing to try. I managed to get the key decoded, but for my life cannot figure out the substitution code; I figured my frequencies, etc, but all I get out of it is gibberish... am I missing comething?

the best way to solve the substitution is to work backwards Smile

I'm in!

I'm in as #107. Something I noticed is that the city listed for me is the one where my IP address is sourced from, rather than my actual location. We didn't submit our physical mailing addresses (yet).

I wonder, too, if they'll actually tell us when the main site has been launched, or if we have to follow a trail of clues to find it?

Looking forward to a new challenge!

As soon as a certain (undisclosed) number of visitors is reached - whether they crack the code or not - the main site is triggered live. Spread the word. The game is in your hands.

They must be going by individual IP addresses so if we get everyone we know to visit the site and not even try and register we will launch the main site!?!?!?

your probably right

i've been trying to get all my friends to participate in the game. So hopefully we'll be able to get something coming up in the next couple weeks. In any case the next phase of the game is set to start on AUG 1st (based on 3 months to a quarter) so hopefully something big isn't too far away!

I am extremely new to this kind of stuff (as of today), and I cannot figure out the cipher. It is really getting annoying. Any ideas?
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Was "the" the first word?

I think I should clarify since this has come up more than once. "the" is the first word I found in the whole cipher. It IS NOT the first word in the cipher.
