I'm over in Leeds, can pop over to Manchester, if cubicgarden (we've met before, at manchester barcamp) cannot make it, or didn't find it today.

James has narrowed it down to 3 galleries for us.
In response to Eli's last e-mail to me, James replies

Hi Eli,

Thanks for the advice, I'm really glad to hear that you think they're on the right track. Based on where the other rings were hidden I think that the galleries they identified are totally likely spots for Theo to choose as ring locations.

Especially the Art Sugery, Natural Eye, and Richard Goodall Gallery...

Good luck Sapagoo! I hope they find it soon. I'm sweating bullets out here in SF... I hope that they haven't moved it again...

Great work, sapagoo!

I added those three galleries (RED PUSHPINS) to Ariock's map.

Good luck to cubicgardencom and/or chippy!

I admit you made the best proposal. I had made my proposal with the assumption that Night and Day is at the center and the target is at the entrance.

But I wonder why none of the three candidates aren't at the center of your labyrinth. They are rather at the edge of the labyrinth, not the middle or center.

Right meant to post this earlier but....

I went in every part of Afflects and couldn't see anything like the ring. Most of it is shops selling weird and wonder things but nothing like the 3rd ring i'm sorry to say.

I tried the Chinese art centre again just incase but no joy still. I also spent about 1hour in Manchester Craft centre (the yellow pin on the map) and there is no ring there. Like Afflects, I was very slow walking and really tried every single gallery and shop. Unless its not on display I would have seen it. this is also where the natural eye gallery is.

I tried the Art Surgery - http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&time=&date=&ttype=&q=The+Art+Surgery,+M4+1LX&ie=UTF8&ll=53.483768,-2.234988&spn=0.009666,0.028667&z=16&iwloc=A&om=1 - no good

Why do people think it might be the Day and Night Cafe? If we're extending the search to cafes and bars, I'm going to need a ton of help as theres about 50 bars in the northern quarter alone.

----------------

Richard Goodall Gallery was closed again, its open tomorrow. So I'll drop in tomorrow, but can't see anything like the 3rd ring from the shop window. Although the gallery stretches quite far back, so it could be in there.

I didn't get to international 3 in time, so I'll try there too tomorrow.

If its none of those two, i'm not sure where else it could be. Will report back tomorrow....

By the way, the google map - http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&t=h&msa=0&msid=107330855128494882013.000451c355eb193f86811&ll=53.483756,-2.235246&spn=0.01116,0.026865&z=15

Has the push pins in the wrong places, so I moved them.

I also didn't check out Upper Space Gallery which I'll do tomorrow.

Upper Space Gallery isn't considered promising now. The three candidates James mentioned, namely, Art Sugery, Natural Eye and Richard Goodall Gallery are the best candidate by far now, I suppose.

You don't have to check cafes. Night & Day Cafe is not a candidate, but a reference point in order to calculate the destination.

According to http://www.richardgoodallgallery.com/ , there are TWO Richard Goodall Gallery's. One is at the place where you moved the red pushpin, but the other is at the place hmrpita put the pushpin.

I understand your pain well - as I looked for the second ring.

Thanks to AUZ, pita, unagi, sapagoo and Ariock for their calculations, and good luck to cubicgarden! Thanks for going out and checking on all these points... we are rooting for you!

We do not have a clear translation of the place the gallery is. I just interpreted the line:
Quote:

When you go around the labyrinth, you'll need to tell a password to the gatekeeper.
.
as somewhere at the outer wall of the labyrinth.

From Eli's email I assume, that the northern point of the labyrinth is the correct place, even though I have not found something like this in the message's translation. Perhaps someone with Indian friends can ask them, if something could be interpreted (translated) as most northern point.

*very sure that the Natural Eye is the correct gallery Smile*

I've been looking for the ring or art work by "unknown" if I need to be telling them a password before I can even see the ring, then I've not been doing that.

I assumed once I ask about the ring, the password would then be needed - which I have as - thermantia.

I'm going to hit the streets again in about a hour and a bit if anyone has any additional places I should go.

Right now my list is

Richard Goodall Gallerys
103 High Street, Manchester, M4 1HQ
59 Thomas St, Manchester, M4 1NA‎

International 3 (way off the rest)
8 Fairfield st, Manchester, M1 3GF

I'll try Natural Eye again to be double sure too ok.

If none of these turn out, then I don't know what else to suggest except shops.

That sounds right. Theo is supposed to be hiding the ring "in plain sight." You should be able to see the ring displayed without giving the "ringkeeper" the password. Once you find the ring, then you will need the password for the "ringkeeper" to give you the ring (don't forget to get the shipping box).

Attempt at a summary of the 4 galleries mentioned by James.
Richard Goodall Galleries
Contemporary Art
(the second location)
103 High St.
Photography, Painting, Sculpture, Prints.
Closed Sunday, Monday, & Tuesday.
Next open time is 11am Wednesday.
"The gallery is located just up the street from Bluu bar, and opposite Sweet Mandarin and Socio Rehab. Around the corner from the Richard Goodall Gallery: Underground, on Thomas St. "

Richard Goodall Underground (the original gallery)
rock posters, urban vinyl, apparel & prints
59 Thomas St.
Front window searched by cubicgarden on Monday

Natural Eye - part of Manchester Craft Centre
Searched by cubicgarden on Monday.

Art Surgery
Searched by cubicgarden on Monday.
Called by Media-Wolf on Saturday

Since Art Surgery, Natural Eye, and the Richard Goodall Underground have all been visited by cubicgarden, I'm hoping that it's in the Richard Goodall Contemporary Art gallery. However, it's not open until tomorrow.
