We're pretty sure that it's simply those repeating patterns right around the inside, but will take more photos this afternoon and have a closer look.

 		Might be a repeating pattern that just adds to the general picture and confirms how GORGEOUS this ring is. However, the baudot code might also be there to catch our attention and prepare us for more detailed messages on the next rings. Who knows? Thanks, Driz and Dante, for solving this! I had never heard about this code before, and it's always great fun to learn something new!
