[Extended Experience] Spooks: Code 9 Update 8-1-08: The site has now gone live, but most users outside the UK cannot view it. For those having trouble, the site can be made to load through this link: http://anonymouse.org/cgi-bin/anon-www.cgi/http://www.libertynews.co.uk
www.libertynews.co.uk
Although the site has yet to go live
, the press releases for the new BBC show Spooks: Code 9 (a future timeline spinoff of Spooks) state that an alternate reality game will be starting "in the weeks prior to the transmission of Episode 1" which airs in August. So it should be coming up sometime soon.

As mentioned in ARGN, I went to take a look at the Spooks Code 9 website and has anyone noticed the three sets of numbers in the background?

There is also a link to a news website which appears to be in world for the show but clicking on it leads back to the BBC site.

The mention from ARGN.

3) On July 23rd (yay, getting closer to days late instead of weeks late!) we received a link to a press release about the new alternate reality game for the hit BBC3 television show Spooks. It's called Spooks 9, and there are some recognizable names behind the scenes on the campaign, including Dan & Adrian Hon of Six to Start, and Tony Walsh of Phantom Compass.
Although the press release promises that www.libertynews.co.uk will play a central role in the narrative, we tried surfing over to that URL and were redirected to the BBC site instead. So, unless this is one of those annoying you're-not-from-this-country-and-thus-you-cannot-view-this-content things, the game must not be quite live as of yet -- and yes, we did read the the game would be, '[g]oing live in the weeks prior to the transmission of Episode 1," but how many weeks is weeks?

Whoops. Sorry degravedi, I didn't see anything on my search; should've been more thorough.
EDIT: Looks like it might be a UK only event as I am still sent back to the Spooks Code 9 page.
Im still getting redirected too. Jono are you sure you're seeing the site? (And to heck with that UK only stuff man! I'll get a IP masker )
It's live on my end, and I'm not in the UK, try it again, maybe they already removed the restriction as of now?

Maybe it's only US users that can't view it? Either way, it's viewable through a proxy:
http://anonymouse.org/cgi-bin/anon-www.cgi/http://www.libertynews.co.uk
It does make loading a bit slower and puts a small (closable) advert, but at least we won't be excluded.

Well here we go. The show airs tonight (10 Aug 2008 21:00 BBC Three) I'm gonna try and record it but Im not sure if Ill be able to get it from my freeview recorder onto the net for you guys, I'm also dubious on the legallity of doing so. For all you American players your best bet will be to use bbc iPlayer the anonymouse address is: http://anonymouse.org/cgi-bin/anon-www.cgi/http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/
If that doesn't work post on here and I'm sure we can figure out a way of everyone getting to see it.

Bloody hell forgot all about watching Spooks [Code 9] tonight!
Going to have to watch it on iPlayer.
So is libertynews.co.uk the first step in this experience?

Looks like it. I'm interested in the search function in the site as there are a few pages which aren't included in the archive and so are only accessible with either a direct URL or using the search. Can't remember which page at the moment.

I liked how they published the stories live with the programme - especially as what you saw on screen was not what you read in the 'news'.

Search their names, some interesting stuff comes up. For example if you search "Charlie Green" You get the following.

Baring in mind, Charlie is a "Math Wiz"

Vik Kamath leads to http://www.libertynews.co.uk/article/uk-prospers-construction-boom-kamath-konstruction
---
Kylie Roman gives you http://www.libertynews.co.uk/article/psychology-students-save-stressed-suicidals

Search Jez Cook and get http://www.libertynews.co.uk/article/criminal-escapes-police-custody
---
Rob Sullivan's name leads to http://www.libertynews.co.uk/article/jet-crashes-motorway
---
Rachel Harris' name actually gives you 2. http://www.libertynews.co.uk/article/new-commuter-checkpoints-instituted
And http://www.libertynews.co.uk/article/police-target-schools-prevent-vandalism
---
And finally Hannah Edwards' name just brings up http://www.libertynews.co.uk/article/breaking-news-square-shooting-victim-identified
======
Edit: And on a sidenote... I've just filled out the little comment box about why you'd fit in with MI5 or w/e, I put.

Hey,
I'm sorry some of you guys can't get into the website. I'm english so I have all the xenophobic tendancies of the BBC working in my favour .
So far the searching has been inconclusive, but I wondered if the google map had something to do with it. It seems to have been paraded around every page as the centre piece of the website. And it seems to be the only interactive resource.
I looked for 'Thames House' but it didn't exist at it's location. I noticed that you can travel the entire bredth of the country. It's only a hunch but if anyone notices any familiar landmarks that place it somewhere. I think there might be something at their headquarters. It's a hunch but I've seen much worse hunches work out very well in other ARG's.
Hope I didn't just waste board space here.

Not at all Subrosante. All opinions, suggestions and discussion etc is welcome!!
New find, possibly?
Liberty News Flickr page: http://www.flickr.com/groups/libertynews
And.
Liberty News Youtube page: http://www.youtube.com/group/libertynews
Although as always w/ the BBC (Torchwood E.E for example) BIG disclaimer(s) in place. Kinda spoils the feel but oh well.

I've re-watched the 1st episode after making notes of possible clues:
Charlie Green's Citizen number is CGREE-F0/T700
After the scene with Jez checking to see if his parents and sister are still missing there is a telephone number on the wall of the dead it is: 0117496088 that means theres a digit missing however I've put all 10 permutations through the phone search locator and none have come up as being in service. The area code 0117 is Bristol.
Some other things of interest.
The room which the sniper fires from in episode 1 is room 307 the room that the team work out of is 306 (visible in the second episode) any bets that the number 305 will show up in the 3rd episode?
Looking at the trailer could the traitor be "Zero"?
Also we could do with finding a map of the "sectors" as these are referred to on screen throughout the episodes.

Nice deductions Grindboy.
The one thing I'll say I think is a bit of an overhaul is the 305 thing. I don't understand the concept? lol
The team were working out of the hotel room next door to the Sniper; therefore them in 306 if he's in 307 would make sense? Not sure where you get the idea they're playing w/ those numbers but who knows?
Put Charlie's Citizen card # into the search @ Libertynews and got nothing at all... But also am I the only one who notices that every 12hrs (I think?) the page actually jumps forward 2 days?
Yesterday morning it was 14 May 2013. Last night 16 May 2013, now 18 May 2013. That's odd.

When I said that they are working out of room 306 I meant their room at M15's local HQ not at the hotel
