not to freak out but... PANIC!!!!!! I'm really glad that we got the 3rd ring (even with a missed try), and not to be over dramatic, but WE'RE DOOMED! Ok, maybe we're not fully doomed... but we're certainly in trouble. Thank goodness they don't seem to suspect me yet...
Anyways, here's why I'm freaking out:

Re: The Sixth Ring
There have been continued irregularities with the 6th Ring. We are still investigating the situation at two locations. But at a third we have concrete evidence.
Between approximately 1600hrs and 1800hrs GMT there were two unsuccessful attempts to steal the ring. We are monitoring the agonothetai and they continue to be woefully ignorant about the sculpture. It is thought that the persons in question are private art collectors. As all well know, the art of van Waalen is much sought after. As noted, both attempts to steal the ring were thwarted, but to better protect the rings, they are being taken out of gallery rotation. They will be held instead at more secure, private locations, unavailable for public viewing.
From now on, all operative pickups will require video authentication at the time of pick-up. In addition to requiring the password, the current ring-holder will record a video of the transporter and submit it to a senior executive Theo member for authentication before the ring is released for further transportation.
There is no cause for alarm.
End of message
My thinking is that we should aim for the pickup people for the next 2 rings to be people who have completed uninitiation missions and video'd TheO oaths...that way, when TheO sees our videos, they will say, "That's alright, that's a TheO operative." I just hope we have double agents in the locations for the next 2 rings ...
By the way, I'm sending James an e-mail right now suggesting this plan and asking if it sounds feasible to him.

Those senior executive Theo members aren't on to the fact that the first two slipped out of their hands yet?

which means we do not only have to find someone near the pick up location, but also someone who already did the Theo missions. That seems really difficult.
I wonder how a senior executive Theo member will know all the Theo members. Could there be a computer system with all Theo members and a photo. I guess it would be easier to hack such an system and upload the data of our pick up person than finding a "proofed" Theo member near the pick-up location.

Ah, phew, I was worried for a second there. If there's no Theo agent in town, all the picker-upper has to do is read the oath and submit it, pretending to be an agent for Theo, to make this okay. Although it might seem slightly suspicious if they do it JUST before the pickup...so perhaps everyone should do it now, to be safe!

I emailed that option to James just moments after reading the message myself. I know team Esseff has almost completely taken the oath so I hope one shows up here... not counting on it though. We do have a massive art culture here though.
*crosses fingers and reiterates the sentiments in the combined ring thread. Grunts, groans and "PICK ME's" until blue in the face.*

I dunno they seem intent on making the ring pick-ups as difficult as possible, so SF might just be *too good* for this job.

If they want out of the way, they should send it to Helena, Montana. I mean, it's not like I could pick it up or anything. (shiftyeyes)
However, they'd have to send it like NOW because I'm leaving next week. It would be incredibly awesome to retrieve a ring here too. But yeah, since I HIGHLY doubt they'd send one here, they should send it somewhere Bay Area remote. Like Berkeley... or Oakland... (shiftyeyes)

. . . if only TheO knew how secure that ring would be in my private collection.

Would there be any way for us to intercept the ring after it has been picked up?
I mean, presumably TheO transporters going to take them to one location (Delphi? Beijing?)? Could we intercept them on the way? I guess this is still reliant on having the right people in the right places.
So far hacking the TheO system seems to be the least labour-intensive suggestion, but then again, I know nothing about what that would require!

As much as I would like a ring here in Miami, they don't seem to make it particularly easy to get.
If it is in Miami, I'm going to have to do one hell of an initiation to get up to speed with all this.

Yes, it is. But we saw a similar e-mail address a week or so back.
We determined that mailexpire is a service for temporary e-mail addresses, and the address itself, swiogitirn, is probably random, and doesn't stand for anything. I don't think it would do us any good to focus on the e-mail.

Unfortunately from my experience it can took days or even weeks. First you have to find a partner from a far distance. Communication is hard. If you are awake your partner sleeps and vice versa. Which means waiting one day for an answer. Than Theo has to approve the tasks. You are only allowed to proceed whwn both partners have done the first task.
My experience: After several weeks my (first) partner said he cannot do his task. Than I searched for several weeks for another one. After finding one it took again several days before he finished the task.
So in my case it took months to get to the second task.
But there are people that have done it within a week or two.
I still hope for a computer system where James can upload pictures of our pick-up person or a system we can hack into.

Even without hacking, there are quite a lot of double-agent theo members around the world.
If the ring parts aren't around unkown little cities with 300 living people, it should be fairly easy to have a "real" Theo agent pick it up. (hell, even in unknown little cities, there are... i do live in a town with less than 300 people )
