ok, bringing over my post from dio's "Year Zero 2?" thread since it seems it's related to Eight Days...

The end of the little scavenger hunt trail that began at the cocktail party was a sheet (attached) with the following text:

Code:
00010100
00001000
00000101
00000101
00001110
00000100

which numerically is 22, 8, 5, 5, 14, 4 - or THE END (assumedly of the scavenger hunt portion)

The rest is a poem - an english haiku - followed by latin phrases:
Quote:
summer sun rises
reopening liberty
independence gained

aurum in pax
mare pacificum
ferreus in bellum

the english seems to hint at certain phrases or possibly landmarks in/near Boston, or perhaps just hints to find letter? we've no idea...
Quote:
solstice/japan/japanese flag
liberty tunnel/statue of liberty crown (both closed and reopened)
declaration of independence/a countrys liberation

the latin gives a direct translation of:
Quote:
gold unto/into peace/harmony
tranquility/peacemaking sea
iron/made of iron unto/into catapult/siege machine/war

if anyone's got better latin->english translation skills, it would be quite helpful Smile

I'll post my assumptions on the latin here.

Aurum in Pax
Mare Pacificum
Ferreum in Bellum

My guess is
Gold unto Peace
Sea of Tranquility (or more simply: Pacific Ocean)
Iron unto War.

Not sure what to make of it. I don't speak latin (well.)but that's what I could make of it.

Creepy video. I'll have to watch it again when no one in the room is sleeping.

Yeah, sure, you're all getting hammered in Boston and want us to do your dirty work for you. Well I can't help much, but maybe... Summer sun rises in the ESE doesn't it? What's that way from the hotel? My recolection is that's toward the waterfront from the Commons, but I wasn't really paying attention when I was there. USS Constitution is docked in Boston, which might be your last Latin. Independence... could be Concord, though that's 20 miles away... Boston Massacre maybe? Supposedly started on King St. Mare Pacificum... First "American" ship in the Pacific, maybe? I'm betting a whaler.

I'm glad to be around. I had a friend show me this site a while back, and I came back to lurk last night. (I won't post off topic anymore)

Well, I looked and looked and I couldn't find anything about what happened at the cocktail party tonight. An apparently crazed man burst into our rather pleasant cocktail party yelling and acting rather psychotic. RobMagus says he was shouting about seeing something we couldn't possibly more... those who were closer fill in!

Anyway, EGo - being brilliantly alert - saw a manila folder sticking out of his, well, pants and snatched it. The package contained a sheet of paper with a photo leading a group of us on a rather wild chase. I'll allow those with copies to post them as I can't remember all they said.

There was also a CD containing the video (posted y Kona). It mentions.. well... Year Zero and a unch of creepy stuff. And right after she mentions Year Zero a series of phrases appear over the static, they are as follows:

"Birth By Sleep"
"New Age"
"Fire In T" (rest cut off)
"John"

EDIT: This was cross posted, with a few edits form my sleep deprived failure of a post last night in a different thread. Sorry!

It's been years since I lived in Boston, but I remember the city well...

Hope this helps:

1. The summer sun rises in the Northeast.
2. During the Big Dig there was a leak that shut down the "Liberty Tunnel". It eventually reopened, but is now called the Tip O'Neill Tunnel.
3. There are quite a few landmarks Northeast of the Tip O'Neill Tunnel. One of those is Boston National Historic Park. The U.S.S. Constitution is docked there. (independence gained)
4.The U.S.S. Constitution, a warship, bears a famous nickname: Old Ironsides. ("ferreus in bellum")
5. She was originally commissioned to protect American merchant ships from pirates. ("aurum in pax" and "mare pacificum"... protecting gold at sea)

Even if I'm wrong, she's worth the trip Smile

edit: Ok... if you guys are staying at the Raddison, then the U.S.S. Constitution is to your Northeast. To get there you'd want to travel up Route 93, which will take you through the Tip O'Neill (aka Liberty) Tunnel.

THAT may actually be the end of your scavenger hunt. Good Luck!

Isn't 13lights.org the same group who did Red Monday???

EDIT: That was just a player created site for passing info along in the game, not PM created.

The image links to a map of Boston posted by "13" (who has no profile). http://13lights.org/map.html I'm guessing it's the hotel. The push pin reads "First Contact: Success."

The pushpin on the map is indeed the Raddison. First contact must be the crazed man from last night. The video linked from the pin is the same video they found on the cd... it's just a large file and takes a ridiculous amount of time to load.
