A number of argfest rooms tonight had a prined sheet of paper with a ROT-14 / ROT-13 code:

Quote:
C: ITMF PA KAG SQF UR KAG YGXFUBXK EUJ NK ZUZQ?

N: SBEGL GJB

on the back are handwritten: 080308 and 0200

the rots are:

on my room the shet actually also had written on it: The 8 days are over... now it really begins

so... yeah...!

ETA: ok ok, so we're going to the USS Constitution tomorrow. cross your fingers we find something Razz
We're going after the labyrinth run (which starts at 11am)... so likely after noonish

If that was the last clue being too vague, I suppose the next clue will be the site changing to say "GET TO THE DAMN USS CONSTITUTION!"

Well, maybe just too vague for a bunch of stumbling drunkards... Drool

Well, of course 6x9 does not equal 42...unless you use base-13.

Now, putting my Hitchhiker knowledge to good use...

This latest puzzle is another reference to it.

42 (as most everyone knows) is the "Ultimate Answer to the Great Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything". But as the quote on 13lights.org points out, those who asked for the "Ultimate Answer" didn't actually know the "Great Question".

Long story short, it's later determined to be "What do you get if you multiply 6 by 9?"

In base 10, you get 54. But in base 13... it's 42.

edit: oops, vapor beat me to the punch Smile I'd guess that somehow, base 13 is going to come into play.

This is looking really cool. Any updates from anyone in Boston?

This thing's going to have forty different names by the time we're done.

I think we should call it "42... or something..." for now.

Why 42? 42 Entertainment was the #1 sponsor at ARGFest, but this hardly looks like their doing. Not their style.

New on the 13lights page? Look for the dark gray text.

Along with several others, I visited the USS Constitution today. After thoroughly searching the museum, the visitor's center, and the ship itself, we are pretty sure that there's nothing there (as of now, anyway).

Hm.

This has to be some sort of base conversion IMO. Possibly each line is using different base. I found out that base 16 is commonly used as a "user friendly" way of displaying binary. I've tried converting a couple of lines from base 16 to binary and then to ASCII but not much luck.

I just keep looking at that 4f in the last line and thinking base 16. 4f is 1001111 in binary which is the letter "O" when converted to ASCII.

I was partial to Drunkard Walk, but at this point 13 Lights seems most fitting.

Damn. I don't know what else that haiku/latin poem could be pointing to...

Agreed, I'm working that same angle given last night's puzzle...

Well crap. And I vote on calling this 13 Lights for now.
Do these games normally involve lots of real world stuff? Like i said, this is my first dabble in this world.

Well, the obvious choice seems to be Base 13, but I can't find a translator... Some math-y person want to help? Smile

Maybe it's saying we need to be looking for another site?

Focus Light (focus your efforts) thirteen leaving (the site isn't going to be the focus for long?)
